sure it might work.
shotgun not finding out though.

lubrication of an engine is sorta a big deal. it's definately not a place where i would go skimping out on parts.
buy it once, buy it right.

i wouldn't man hunt around and find a decent 2nd hand one and jump on it when it pops up

as todd said pretty vital part just to save a few hundred dollars

heard stories of cheap sandwich plates coming undone and dumping engine oil etc..

the core its self is fine so is the adapter plates. just make new lines and run new fittings or use those ones but they will be casted.
you just have to make sure you get the right filter which alot of people don't and then wonder why its popped off and sprayed oil every where.

I was wondering the same thing, these ebay deals and all i can say is you get what you pay for.

Mr Awesome is 100% correct thou. New lines and fittings are a must.

honestly, just make a cooler setup yourself, save your money and be safe in knowing that you've done it yourself and can be satisfied with the quality. i've posted the same thing numerous times about my oil cooler setup, it is as follows:

vt commonwhore cooler (gm generic trans cooler)
genuine toyota sandwich plate WITH thermostat
fittings and hose (200 something psi rating) from pirtek

in total it cost me $80 and i know for certain that it will never fail because i did it myself and used parts that i know are quality.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4985/?rtype=10 Relocation plate
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-70265/ Cooler
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRM-1070/ Thermostat

For 136 American dollars you can get the cooler, relocator AND thermostat. But you need hose and fittings on top of that which is fine because you can make them to suit your car, not some arbitrary lengths in those kits which might not suit.

They have coolers with thermo built in Slydar, although i think it more then the cooler and thermo seperate.

Toyota sandwich plate isnt a full flow cooler, its an overpressure one only and hence doesnt do all that much if you want proper engine cooling.
The factory style trans cooler setups also take very little heat out of the oil as they are made for a much thinner oil.

If you are going to bother going with an oil cooler setup it may as well be full flow.

maybe so but i can vouch for my set up by how hot my cooler is after a good drive, especially in summer! maybe a non-original spring? either way it flows extremely well. what oil are you using? btw im running a smallport.
