Okay I have two manifolds one that originally came with my engine and the one I'm using that has been cut and shut.

This is my original manifold that came with my engine. What is the yellow plug? Looking at the inside of the manifold it looks like some sort of air temp sensor.

I'm also using the loom and ECU from the motor that the manifold with the sensor came from. Do I need this? Should I put it into the other manifold?

yes, it is air temp. i have it on my bigport loom with a smallport manifold thus it doesn't get used. never had an issue related to it.

The manifold you are using came from a later model redtop bigport, which had a setup like a smallport. The air temp sensor is located in the air box.

You will use more fuel without it, and can sometimes cause issues. You can get it tapped into your intake pipe, or if you are running an air box you can place the sensor in there :)

Great info guys. My engine is kind of a bitsa. The head is off a blue top, the block is a 7 rib with no oil squirter's off a red top bigport and the manifold is obviously off the same.

That's good to know I'll be running an Adaptronic so would it matter if its not there?

I should stop being lazy and just drill it out and tap it myself at work but I can't be bothered undoing everything to do it. Would be better to do it now than later though.

you wouldnt be able to have a proper tune without it, it's simple to fit so put it in there. With the adaptronic you can use one out of any model car.
