Q1 how much of a headache is it to pull out steering racks?
Q2 is there a difference between a jdm kouki ae86's rack and an ADM 86 rack?

Q1. Fairly difficult, not impossible.
Q2. None.

cheers seamus if its fairly difficult might pawn the job off onto a mechanic, hopefully it aint too exxy.

ITs not that difficult, the only fiddle is getting off the brackets that hold it on the rack, other then that its easy. have a go! u will get it out.
and im pretty sure GTV racks are the only different ones

It's a job of moderate difficulty, nothing too bad. Easy if you have access to a hoist, little bit of a pain if you've gotta do it on jackstands.
Sundee is right, GTV racks have an extra tooth. So if your Kouki JDM sprinter is a GTV, then you'll be losing some lock. GT / GT-APEX are the same as ADM.

i pulled one out of a car at the wreckers, in summer..that was crap.

the only difficult thing i find is the tie rod end balljoints get stuck in the steering arm. once i had to pull the arm off and unscrew the tie rod from the rack end. put it in a big arse hycraulic press. i couldnt put anymroe pressure into it, and was hanging off the bloody thing. 5 minutes later bang and it came out

pretend your on a desert island and youve got no beer and the only way you can get back is pulling that rack out,trust me you'll get it out.
