Hi all
I have had nothing but problems with my flywheel bolts coming loose on my 7age happend once my mechanic replaced the bolts with slightly longer bolts (not sure off of what model toyota) and also used loctite (not sure what colour) this was fine for like 3 weeks with fuk all driving (when she does come out the stable she cops a hiding thoe) and i think has happend again.
When im in gear say about 5000rpm and off the throttle there is this weird vibration when the revs come back down, it was making a similiar noise last time round but alot worse.
Any ideas ???
Ive been told from other ppl on the forum that ARP 3tc flywheel bolts are the way to go with red loctite ???
Any one else know any tricks of the trade to stop this problem for good???
I know that ppl who race clubmans rev there 7age's to 8000rpm all day long with out this problem but havent found any info on how they go about it.

Also on another note im wondering if there is some sort of rev limiter, ingnition cut that can be installed on a carby engine ????
I have a Hyfire ignition system that come with the car from japan, do the M.S.D ignition systems have a ignition cut??? would the Hyfire one have one ????

Thanks for your time any info would be much appreciated.

make a limiter, easy as my friend

As above, (i'm yet to do it, but its fairly simple in design) just make one.

Need a relay, tach with shift light, and some wire!
Unplug the light, and use that as the relay coil activator.
And put the relay as usually OPEN between coil and ground.
Once certain revs are hit, bam coil is shunted to ground, as soon as revs come back down youve got spark again (BANG BANG BANG)

Pretty much a cheapass DIY Bee-R Limiter :)

As for the 7a... NFI

how tight are these bolts getting done up, is your mechanic going bang bang bang with a rattle gun or actually torqueing them up right

Cheers Keslider and blair for that, that doesnt sound to hard at all to rig up and pretty much will cost me the price of a rev tacho.
lol only down fall is that i have to run a gay after market tach but i think shooting flames out the zorst out weighs that thoe :)

Yeah ke slider he is tourqing them to correct settings and he is a bit baffled about it as well.
Hopefully with these ARP bolts and a rev limiter things should stay tight ( fingers crossed )

hide the tacho in the glovebox, or stash it under the dash, easy fix lol

Yeah was brain storming today and speaking to a couple of fully sick como owners since they know everything about gauges and apparently there is a shift light you can get with a dial on the back to adjust your rpm with out having the aftermarket tacho.
Anyone heard of them ?
would you be able to use one of these in the same manner to make a ignition cut ????

thanks fellaz

i think you mean something like the gizmo shift light

im with 20v ae71, id buy a cheap taco with shift light and stash it in the glove box. if you wanna change the rev limit it would be easy as and honestly you wouldn't do it that often.

Yeah the glove box is the best bet i think also the only reason i want to be able to access it is so i can set the limiter to zero when i park so no fucker can steal my rig ( cheap imobiliser ) :)

maybe check the threads has not be raped on the bolts and where it bolts on to.

7afe flywheel bolts and red locite should be enough+ torque down to spec.

Yeah new bolts got put in the first time it came loose , hope the thread were it threads in aint fucked !!! :(
red loctite was used and am currently trying to hunt down ARP 3tc bolts

Jaycar rev limiter is the way to go, more compact, can set to a soft or hard cut. also not sure if the way with the tacho eventually burns out the coil or not?

Red loctite, and a bit of oil under the head of the bolts :)

Robo's haven't come loose since.

Wurth make a fair decent thread locker that i like to use. Its like $18 a small bottle but good luck finding some.

Otherwise i would have no issues with you running new bolts and red loctite

yeah that seems to be the go but i used loctite last time ( dont know if it was red ) and also used bolts that were a few m/m longer and it happend again.
I have to wait a couple of weeks ttill my mechanic is back and am trying to chase down some ARP flywheel bolts apparently 3tc are the ones i need but they didnt have them listed.
Anyone know what other toyota fly bolts would fit ????? Preferably ones that ARP make ???
Other than that robo mentioned it might be my flywheel itself so might look into a Toda flywheel coz once everything is all back in i dont want it coming back out for a while coz this last 3 months have been a bitch with my car !!!
