I've got a crank on the way for my 4agte, so once the bottom end is assembled and I drop
the head on I can mate it to the gze box and run it in N/A for a thousand kay. So before I get the bottom end back I need to have the clutch ready. Question is which brand, type and size?? Is there any advantage in running the larger diameter flywheels? It seems from the eXtreme catalogue that the really beefy clutches are available in the 200mm flywheel size I assume this is as it is the sprinkler flywheel size.

Would like this one but cant justify the price lol http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_info.php?cPath=326_412_413&products_id=6092

This is what im thinking I will run, http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_info.php?cPath=326_412_413&products_id=4663

I think with 200kw driveability will come down to judicial use of the right foot more so than an in or out clutch feel.

Anyone's voices on experience with brands, clutch types etc greatly appreciated, cheers guys

The two links to clutches are broken. and a 4age clutch won't fit onto a gze input shaft. You need a gze clutch. you can get an off the shelf plate that fits in 200 and 212 mm flywheels with the big input shaft but I don't know what cars they come off. I have a gze flywheel here if you want it.

and you need to be a member on ae82.net to view the engine build which I have no desire in doing.

Apologies! The clutch links are fixed and if you are a toymods member I will be posting a build thread there soon, possibly here?? Not

sure how pro fwd you guys are, just 4age which is all me.

Good info on the input shaft size appreciated.

TRD produce a 3 puck 225mm clutch face and pressure plate.
Else, hybrid of 200/212mm 4age clutch and w-gearbox spline input on the clutch plate.
E58 gearbox is the same spline as W series gearboxes.

If you are really worried about breaking it, check Bazda's build thread on twincam.org.au and see him for a clutch. (Twin plate or single) in his AE92 levin running 10sec quarter and 340ish kw.

The only thing I would query on the billet flywheel design is the press fit ring gear.

Wow, that quarter master twin plate clutch that barry can supply fro NZ looks awesome.

I think my engine may have come with a gze flywheel as this is what it originally was.

How can I measure it to know? By the pressure plate PCD?

is this for an ae86 or an ae82?

if its for an ae82 and your using a gze box use the gze flywheel. it has more surface area than the smaller flywheels which means more material from the clutch being clamped to the flywheel. the extra torque will kill a small clutch alot faster than a big one. thats the reason why toyota use these behind the gze from factory.

more surface area also means you can run a reasonable strength pressure plate, giving nicer pedal feel and easier on the gearbox

you wanna run that power and can use the gze flywheel? i cant see why you would look past it

My only gripe with GZE flywheel is its weight but yeah, run it ifs already on the engine. Get a lighter one if you can.

GZE flywheels have 6 legs popping up out of the flat surface whereas 4A-GE flywheels are flat. Then there's the 225mm and the rare 230mm.

Actually it's the other way around, 225 is rare (aw11 and ae92 s1) and 230 isn't (ae92 s2 and ae101).

Hey man, you know I don't care about gze's. I read that on toymods years ago and never thought to check it.
I don't even remember why I have a gze flywheel or if I still have it.

Dan, I'll pm you tommorow after I check.
