hey everyone, a little while ago my 4age stated making this weird noise like a mechanical blowing noise like a turbine. its seems to be coming from or under the pod filter. It sound like metal grinding on something. Ive asked a few people but they have no clue.
It tends to happen the worst in 1st and second gear.

cheers for your help.

Vaccume leak or blocked breather on the cam cover?

have you noticed any decrease in performance?

nah not really any decrease in performance, it still runs pretty smooth.

Alternator bearing, belt slipping?. Does it do it when revving on the spot?

Nope, only when applying a bit of power, when idle or slowing sounds like a metal on metal rubbing or rattling.

as the car bounces it stops and starts. while accelerating it rattles hardcore but doesn't sounds or feel like bearings it more raw metal sound.

it sounds like a but of air is rushing out from under the car when it bounces but when i accelerate its different i dunno if there related.

I had what seems to be a simular noise coming from my car, turned out to be the metal dust cover on the back of the gearbox had come off. but that doesnt really account for induction noise

its probably two separate problems. maybe :). how would i check the cover, can you see it from under the car.

Yeah you should be able to. Its like a sheet metal cover that goes over the back of the gearbox where the drive shaft goes in

Don't worry guys i found the problem. the exhaust was split in half from the back on the muffler and the pipe. Yay!:(
