Haiguyz,

Bit of a quick question. Nearly finished my wiring for the ol 4AGE into AE71 routine...
As a side note, i'm rolling with the VL turbo pump + surge tank + lifter pump fuel setup.

Went to prime it the other day, and lo and behold, the in-tank lifter pump has shat itself.
So rather than fuck about with in-tank lift pumps, I figured now's a good time to go with an external lift pump which means it'll be easier to drop the tank in the future.

Would anybody be able to recommend a brand / model / place to buy an external lift pump from to suit what i'm trying to achieve?
I'd prefer it if there was a quieter option, as I wasn't quite prepared for exactly how noticible the VL pump whining away was... :S

Tankya!
- Alex.

If u think the vl pump is loud, u are in for a shock with an externall lift pump.

what car?

if its an 86 or a ke70 then i suggest you put a VL intank pump in, and modify the intank fuel pick up.

theres a few pics of how i did my fuel system.

the only reason your VL pump is noisy is because somehow in your system the VL pump is having to suck fuel. the high pressure pumps do not like having to suck fuel.

if you use the standard VL lift pump in your tank, the surge tank will become slightly pressurised, and your VL external pump will be completely silent.

my fuel setup is completely silent at all times. and i love it:D

Thanks for the link mate, would you happen to know a rough price of how much they would set me back?

Yeah, it's in the car, in the boot.
I could probably live with it, it'll just shit me up the wall.

It's an AE71 my friend. With all the fuel system in the boot.
Yeah, the in-tank lift pump that I was using was a VL item, however it wasn't a new one, I just picked it up from pick-a-part, so that's probably why it's fucked.
I like what you did with your system mate, flaring the ends and whatnot. Dope solution.

So yes, because I have done exactly what you have done with modifying the cradle, i'm already set up for this option. It just so happened that the pump fucked out.

But I don't think that it was noisy due to the fact it had to suck fuel... It wasn't sucking anything because the lift pump wasn't providing it with anything to suck. However, this should in theory mean it'll quieten down once it's got fuel running through it.

But in your build thread you mention you picked your new VL lift pump up from repco?
Do you happen to remember any info about that? Price, part number etc?
Could be a valuable backup plan.
