JIC USA arnt that keen on doing them, JIC japan are stupidly expensive. JIC USA arnt sure if they can do them.

Might actually pull them down and check them out, might be able to just order new TRD shocks for them! probably cheaper and better as JIC dont last that long anyway.

There's a fulcrum suspension joint here in brissy that rebuilds *shitloads* of coilovers. Worth a try? If not, i can call them and ask

okay thanks for the replys guys.

just pulled a shock out, they just use the normal type of 'cartridge' for 51mm struts.

body length is 300mm (or just under), shaft length (incl thread) is 210mm.

i remember there being a thread before about TRD shocks with all the specs of them but having trouble finding it?

hhmm,

AE92:
Body length: 336mm
Extended length: 500mm
Extended minus Body: 164mm
Outside Diameter: 43.5mm

found this, but im unsure if ae92 TRD yellow will be even shorter in the body?

for my trd blues that were from a ae92 i shortened the strut 60mm. Not sure on standard length strut to confirm length

i got a broken English reply for JIC usa.... i THINK they said 150usd per shock for full replacement inserts. would still rather use some sort of trd shock as every JIC coilover known to man has blown shocks (>_<) which leads me to think there inserts are not so great quality.

i think it was tsr that did my old JICs, somewhere northside bris, anyway they used generic shitty inserts and they only lasted a few months

TRD 48511-ST040 lists as a 295.5mm body length and a 405mm fully extended length.
TRD 48511-ST050 lists as a 301mm body length and a 399mm fully extended length.

From what I recall, they're to suit ST204/ST205 front struts.

From what I remember, he didn't end up getting them repaired. I think he just bought some different/better coilovers.

Yeah, the 48511-ST050 probably superceded the older ones. The only thing I can see being an issue with using these in those JIC coilovers is that the damping rates aren't really matched to xX8x. (I presume these are for your cressida?) That being said, they'll still be way better than the old, blown inserts.

i think the springs are ~8&6kg so they should be fine, the TRD shocks are also adjustable so can kinda match them a little better.

price is the same for the trd ones or to rebuild the old ones. so i think ill go the TRD ones so hopefully i wont have to rebuild them every time i change the oil.

Yeah, everything I've heard about JIC coilovers says that they blow damper inserts, so TRD inserts would have to be miles better.

I wonder if it's just a particular line of JIC coilovers that die or if it affects their whole range though.

yours in particular aaron died from excessive side load, but yeah they don't look quality

I found a set of JIC st185 celica ones that'll fit in mine. Do you think its worth getting them? guy thinks they'll need a rebuild, but yeah, or should i just save my pennys and build some coilovers with some sleeves and koni's... if i dont get something better before than.
