Car - ae86, kouki

motor - smallport 4age

use - spiderarium

problem - Motor will not start. Cranks, but no spark, suspicious wire not connected to anything

occurs/started when - I swapped the motor and entire loom into a new shell

With the ignition on, several LEDs on the adaptronic illuminate, then go dim. I don't know what these lights indicate however. Can hear a solenoid click and the fuel pump runs for a few seconds. Motor will crank, but does not fire. I did have it running before reshelling the car.

I had to cut several wires near that go into the adaptronic (e420b I think) to get the loom out. Have rejoined them with crimp connectors. The wiring in that area is pretty messy and has a couple of wires attached to the junction box shown below

There's also a wire that's been added in the engine bay that I can't figure out where its supposed to go. Its the red wire attached to the plug at the bottom left corner of the fuse box

It has 12v when the ignition is ON.

I have wiring diagrams which suggest this plug may be related to the ECU, but I'm not certain.

Any help in getting this thing running much appreciated!

Thats some rather funny wiring, if someone went thru the effort to do that i will buy them a beer, it would have been easier to put a relay there and get rid of 2 12v wires.

Can you hook a laptop up to the ecu? turn key on and check the power wire for the ecu, the leds fading sounds fishy.

The tangle of red, blue and green wires running down the side of the engine bay was for the thermo fan, radio and fog lights. Thermo fan is on a relay and I've removed the other wires. Still trying to work out what the mystery wire is, and if its important.

ewwwww that wiring is absolutely horrid

no wonder the thing wont start

arent the LEDS there to flash if there is a fault, kinda like an error code thing.

ensure there are good grounds for the ecu, a weak ground will cause the lights to go dull and no spark

Looking again at the photos I took before reshelling the car, I was able to see the red mystery wire. Have marked it in the pic below.

None of the pics show what its connected to. The pic below shows the wiring loom as it looks now. There are several plugs on the loom in that location that it would fit into.
