I've seen a couple of stray questions regarding BC coilovers floating around on this forum. Thought I'd start an official thread. Hopefully this will help others with similar questions.

So, to all those who own/know of these:
The BR Series (gold) has an insert diameter of 53mm. What shock options are there for future repair/upgrade if ae86/ae92 have a 43.5mm diameter?

What diameter does the V1 Red version have?

Gold has the additional bearing beneath each pillowball, anything else different about them?

Any help will be appreciated :)

Thanks

I'm fairly sure that BC coilovers dont actually have a removable insert, the shock is actually combined with the strut so you cant replace the insert as such, BUT if your talking about repairing/upgrading all you'll have to do is take the strut to someone who can rebuild it for you with whatever valves you want so that would be your "upgrading" as such. i dont really see the point in upgrading/replacing the insert as I doubt you'd actually gain any noticeable difference?

also not sure about the differences between V1 and gold, i'm pretty sure its just that extra bearing and the shocker itself is a wider diameter? i'm not about to pull mine apart to see haha

also - www.bcracing-na.com shitloads of info on there, but i couldn't find anything about the V1 version on there, i'm pretty sure its being replaced by the BR as the next base model.

hope that was some help!

Cheers Dil. Sounds like golds are the way to go.
