Car - ke70

motor - 4age 20v st

use -street/drifter

problem - 7age pistons?

occurs/started when -

personal situation - being searching on whats the best way to go about building a 7age 20v st and need to confirm a few things before buying.

So far i know you use 7a block and crank i'll be using spool 4a rods but unsure of what pistons to use i heard smallport pistons will work to get the right compression ratio etc but can you use 4a 20v st pistons are they the same etc?

also you i've being told you use the standard 4a head gasket or should you use a 4a 0.8 trd one?
Also being told a 16v timing, porche 944 which one is better to use?

any help would be great thanks

form what i have heard from a mate biulding a 7 age (but 16 valve head) run the standard headgasket

running stock ae101 pistons i think sam worked out itd be around the 12:1 compression region...

i bought custom wiseco's which with a stock headgasket gives me around the 11.5:1 mark..

in regards to timing belt, it depends very much so on what oil pump, timing gear etc you plan to run...

run ae101 gear and you "should" be able to run a 16v 4age timing belt...

still waiting on my tensioner to arrive to see if this theory is correct on a ae111 head..

there was a thread a few pages back that mentioned that silver top pistons with blacktop head had considerably lower compression ratios than standard silvertop.

if using 4age pistons with 7a rods gives crazy high compression, then will using the above combo give a more safer compression? what about with normal and thinner head gasket?

if it does that would be sick cause then you get to run with valve recesses in the pistons already

11.5:1 give or take. WHich isn't too bad and will be fine with a reasonable tune and 98 ron fuel. Just use the stock 20V gasket.

With a blacktop head its roughly 10.5:1

i think id prefer the blacktop head with silvertop pistons then.

mines 16v head but i went with smallport pistons (hypatech 0.5mm oversize) and standhard headgasket. around the 11.3:1 region, doesnt ping with 98 fuel and stock timing.

kinda useless post, but thought id add it in

how much power did you make?
