View Full Version : MA61-5 stud conversion

Ok I know this has been done many times, with 1000 threads on toymods, but I am not paying $350 for a set of crown MS65 hubs, especially when I could have billet ones knocked out for $700. So my question is, is there any alternatives to this conversion. There is no point me asking on toymods, as you will just get told to search through 5 years of old threads, with threads written around pics that no longer exist >|.
I am going to be running R33 rotors and calipers up front, which will require drilling rotors, which I am not too fond of, but since my new diff is 5 stud, I think I should travel down the same path for the front.
SO apart from the MS65 hubs is there any alternative for 5 stud *A6* struts, like hilux or MX83 or something?
Cheers
Rhys.

i know you will have a reasoning but, why not just use mx83 struts to start with? and yeah the toymods crew are cunts when it comes to asking questions

Because I have 2 pairs of *A6* struts and a pair of MX32 struts. And isn't the bolt spacing different on the knuckle?

Also I think *X8* struts will give me more camber than I want. I want to be able to dial in up to 6degrees, not start with it.

ah ok fair enough, i'll have a scour through when i get home, though i'm tipping anything else that's similar to the ms65 hubs will also be around that same price, should convert diff back to 4-stid intead, probably cheaper

Nothing which fits over the MA61 stub axle easily. MS85-MS123 requires shims to be made up to fit the bearings in, and MX83 is a completely different bearing.
Read my MA61 thread for details on the MX83 conversion:

There are pros and cons, but i think they are detailed well in there.

Thanks for the link Takai.
I am just going to leave it as it is, I can run 4 stud on the rear anyway, thought it might just be easier on the brake side of things. Got to run a BA rotor too.
