Hi
I have a trueno with a 4age smallport and want to run one of those trumpet like setups, like webbers I think, I have had a side draft setup offered to me that came off a 4age bigport, will this fit my smallport??
If not what will and where can I find them?
Thanks
Alistair.

a "trumpet like setup" can be either sidedrafts which you can buy an adapter from Tweakit or quad throttle who you can buy an adapter from T3. Do a search for either of those names on yahoo

Oh ok thanks!!
I'll do a search for them. In your opinion what setup out of the two would be best to run on the street?
Cheers.

I have a personal dislike against carbs, even if you fit the carbs and you actually find someone to tune it properly then you still have to keep the ECU to run the ignition. After all that you will be limited to the original igniton timing.
Have you though about just dropping a 20V engine in?

Yeah I have, I'm just not very familiar with that engine and would be limited to how much of the work I can acctually do myself, is it really that difficult to swap a 20v in? I heard some firewall bashing is needed and cooling problems aswel...
Is there a workshop around that can do it for me?

If you want to run carbs and bin the computer, you could convert to an advance dizzy, 4ac one MAY work (on 16v), 4k ones have certainly been used with slight mods. Another option could be to use a magna electronic dizzy and run it off the front of a camshaft. 2nd option would be required for 20v.
Unlike Sam, I love a good carb :) If you can't tune them yourself it can get expensive but the same goes for ecu. A good wide band O2 and a set of jet drills should get you going nicely.
Just for the record, our shitter track car with 2tg/3t hybrid (2 valves per cylinder, 1.8L) running webers (self jetted), stock cams, stock pistons and crappy points dizzy makes 88kw at the wheels. The only mod apart from carbs is that Sam ported the head.
Having said that, for a street car efi is probably less headaches.

4ac distributor spins the wrong way i am lead to beleive. but yes there are plenty of other options out there.
In terms of ease of conversion (going from stock smallport to itb/carbs) i'd go itb's. mostly because the only changes needed are all physical/mechanical. If you go carbs and want to adjust ignition etc to suit, then you have to start playing with wires :)

Maybe an edis setup with jay car controller would do the trick. Or, use the original dizzy as cam position sensor with jaycar controller.
