was having a discussion with a friend of mine about trying it out. only worries are that top hats will need to be spaced out, and if the coilover will be too short/long?

just want to see if anyone can confirm it works.

i have s13 rear coilovers in mine.
you will have to macine up a sleeve to go on the shockmount and the bush is bigger on the s13s

then you will have to machine up top hats similar to the t3 kit uses.

they're alittle long and cant go to low. this is the only pic i have of the lowest height i could get. (195/50/15)

its not that dodgy doing it but it'll probley be way to stiff with 90% of s13 coilys. mines solid :S

have heard fc rears are a good option, but never confirmed.

yes, FC rears work sans top hats. you have to elongate the rear top points though like all other coilover conversions.

but thats not the problem.

the FC inserts are all valved too hard for a light 86, and they handle shit in the rear and bounce all over the place.

the best rear coilover setup would ideally use an 86 specific damper.

top hat piece similar to this?

I've got 2 options to go with atm. it's either convert my rear Mustang KYB AGX shocks to T3 style rear coilovers
or find some cheapo s13 coilovers and potentially use less $$.

i mean, S13s would be better valved than my current Mustang shocks?

ive got essentially the t3 kit in mine but mounted on a trd blue shock.

works soooo much better than the shock the t3 guys were using...

the damper valving should be in the middle of the unit's stroke. In other words if it's wound right down you have something that's not going to run the way it's designed. One of the symptoms might be that it feels way too stiff...

S13's are a similar weight to FC's.

T3 ones arent too great cause the sleeve is grub screwed onto the shock shaft. but for what you want they might work best.

oh and S13 coilovers would require a spacer sleeve for the lower bushing on the diff.

seriously what's the advantage of coil overs over a normal setup with adjustable spring seats? seems wank factor to me

I decided to use them because the spring seats welded to my yr22 diff are too big for my current springs so instead of changing them I decided to go rear coilovers
