hi i l finally got my 4age bigport tvis running in my ae71, it runs not bad but every now and then it splatters down low and feels like its choking and idles alittle high, i have the cold start vavle blocked off(big hole in throttle body), check for vacum leaks none, timing is fine, if any one has any ideas what else to check it will be appreciated, and also does any one no of any workshops with experience with these engines in melbourne near the northern suburbs?????????

Under load or free-revving?

First port of call would be a new set of plugs.

take out the plugs and attack them with a wire brush, see if that helps. re gap them too.

other option is your injectors may need a clean, but try the plugs first.

forgot to mention it is when the car warms up

changed plugs today and still no good, any1 i'm out of ideas

it is definitely a blown head gasket. just chemi-weld the head and all your problems will be fine. it will even raise your compression and give you 30% more power.

nah leads/distributor/service generally fix this. as well as a properly sealed O2 sensor

can you get someone to rev it while you pull leads off, to try and isolate what cylinder/s it is

sorry late reply all fixed just pulled off the inlet manifold and redid all the gaskets and all is good thanks for the help fellas

arrr mani leak, what you do pour water over it and hear it suck the water in, or carby cleaner???
