Im in the process of starting my fresh install of a 4age, I just have a few wiring questions/problems.

There is no spark while i am trying to start the car.

Ive followed the wiring diagrams to the best of my knowledge but im not 100% sure.

Is there anyone in melbourne that knows 4age wiring looms? lol

run a wire staight from the positive side of the battery to the positive side of the coil. does this do anything?

lol, check the melbourne guy thingy, sprinter86, nathan, couldn't reccomend him more, moderate pricing and does a top job.

no spark at all or just piss weak spark? check coil power and resistance, check ignitor, need to also check the trigger resistance in the dizzy, check main efi relay and fuse.

download the diagnostic manual for the how to's, its a piece of piss, all u need is a multi meter and 2 x 1.5 volt batteries (test ignitor) and your sweet

oh and make sure u have good earths, if u have intalled a new coil..like a gt40r make sure u file some paint from the casing to ensure a good earth, trust me if u dont your spark will be ghay and it wont start!

I will try all these things hopefully tonight.

Just one more question, does the ECU need a signal wire? apart from the normal power and accessories power.

What i am thinking, the coil is not getting a signal to starts sparking somehow.

Ok we got it started :) It turned out to be a ground wire to the ECU.

Thanks for your your help guys.

Just need to sort out the issue of why it wont rev over 2Krpm, just checking the timing now.

did u time the engine with the diagnostic port terminals bridged? if not your timing will be like 5' more advanced than u want it

Thanks for that, ill take a look.

Found out my fuel pump is a bit stuffed, only works when to tap it.

I love these little shitty problems, haha

dont worry ive been exactly where u are, u'll learn alot about your car. Diagnostic port is on the passenger side has a red cap, its a 2 port terminal. and if u wanna check your fuel pump the fuel pump check terminal is just next to the ECU Diag port it has no cap and its rectangular, just bridge it then turn the key to on, the pump will then run untill u un bridge the terminals.
