View Full Version : ae71 running aftermarket rpm gauge

hey guys hooked up a rpm gauge that i got for my car just a 52mm mechanical needle one hooked it up using the generic directions but when i run my car it bounces all over the shop and is so delayed unsure how to fix this or should i just got get a digital one or standard tacho dash

- running acc power from stereo affect this?
- ground to car instead of at battery cause this?
- not hooking up power for lights affect this?

thanks any help will be appreciated wires are my best friend

Hook acc and batt wires to ur ignition. And the rpm wire to positive on coil. And make sure u got a good solid ground. And make sure on the back on the gauge that it's selected on 4 cyl not 6 or 8

the rpm signal wire goes on the NEGATIVE of the coil......not the positive

running power to igniton and good ground and running to negative coil wondering if i just run it straight off battery will make a difference

Well there u go hahaha. I just trial and error for that usually lol
