Hello again guys,

Need some help for wiring up my 4AGE into a KE70. I will do my best to try and explain what I mean, but apologies if it doesn't sound right :)

Basically I am at the part of patching what I 'believe' to be the wires for the sensors (ie Water temp, oil pressure, reverse light etc) into the stock KE70 loom.

Below is the 4AGE loom connected to the donor AE86 loom:

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/6/6/64347.jpg

Now I am assuming that the above circled section has to be joined into this section of the KE70 wiring:

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/6/6/64348.jpg

Reason I am guessing that this is the case is the fact that on the KE70 loom there I know that it contained to sensor wiring for the old 5K.

But my question is, how do I know which wires to connect between the looms? I know how to work out a few of the wires as to know what does what (in both new 4AGE loom and KE70 loom), but I am a bit confused as the KE section has 5 small gauge wires in it, but the 4AGE section has 4 small gauge wires and 1 larger gauge one...

KE70 wires are:
2 x Red w/ Blue
1 x Purple
1 x Yellow w/ Black
1 x Yellow w/ Green

4AGE wires are:
1 x Red w/ Blue
1 x Red w/ Black
1 x Yellow w/ Black
1 x Yellow w/ Green
1 x Black w/ White (Thicker wire)

I know to join the reverse light switch ones, the oil pressure ones, and the water temp ones, but what the hell do I do with the other remaining wires? :S

I hope this info gives you enough of an idea of what I am trying to achieve. Please let me know if you can help.

Also, I have looked at "wiring Diagrams" for the 4AGE and whilst I struggle to make sense of it, I definitely couldn't see anything written for reverse lights, or oil pressure etc.

Cheers,

-Alex

those reverse ones you speak of, thats the (ke 70 side) 2 red/Blue yea?? and you join them too (4age side) red/ blue is that correct??

the black with white im pretty sure is earth (i've earthed it :) )

Guessing both the Yellow w/ Green join, and the Yellow w/ Black join and those are the oil pressure and water temp. (will confirm tomorrow with multi meter)

Also would hazard a guess that the thicker black w/ white on the engine loom is an earth. (due to larger size and black is normally an earth?)

That leaves on my loom 2 x Red w/ Blue and 1 x Purple that I am unsure of. And 1 x Red w/ Blue and 1 x Red w/ Black on the engine loom. These are the ones that I have no idea how to go about connecting. If 2 x Red w/ Blue are the reverse light ones, and they join to the 1 x Red w/ Blue and 1 x Red w/ Black of the 4AGE loom, it still leaves a random purple one with no partner :S

Black white is starter signal on ae86!!!!!!!! Ke70 start signal is purple or red from memory.

White black, brown are usually earths.

AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!
do you HAVE! to run it???, also with that starter signal, that comes out near dissy on the engine loom and runs down to starter doesnt it???

Yep thats where it goes to. On a 4age, the starter cable has a start signal wire which is where the other start signal wire wire at the dizzy plugs into.

Bro you crazy. KE70 start is black/white. It just rubs from the fuse box mounted on the battery brace to the starter motor using the same path that the high current wire takes.

The purple is emissions computer. It says so on the ke70 wiring diagram, not that I've ever found a 'computer'. There IS a red that's 'start signal' but that's at coil positive to give coil full power while cranking to account for the voltage drop in the system. This one runs nowhere near firewall plug.

And my general rant: I just connected all the wires I could without questioning it. If need be then confirm like the reverse wires in your case but that's a 2 minute job, even quicker if the car is already up in the air. Kids are so lazy these days and just consult the Internet when they get stuck. The easiest way to do this is to just use the plug and harness off the 4k. Everything plugs up except purple wire.

Yeah when I did a ke70 ages ago I used that coil power wire because the other was missing.

Just de-loom the whole thing, rip out any "un-needed" shit and connect up what you need. loom will turn out alot better.

Yeah that's the plan once I actually have it running. Once I can see everything connected and working, I'll pull it all apart and tidy it up.

Currently have the starter solenoid clicking when I turn the key, but it doesn't want to crank :S

was yours auto by anychance??/ man does that is i dont short the wires that used to run to the auto shifter(so it thinks its in N or P)

need to short the inhib switch where the gear shifter was(its the 4 plug) jsut get a peice of wire and short any of those wires out in that plug till it turns over then cut them and join them together

Can't help with the Auto part, but to update this, the engine starts, and runs fine :)

Oil Pressure and Water Temp were the colours said above, so they were easy. Just connect the Y/B wires together for Oil, and Y/G for Water.
Purple was unneeded - Thanks again for that Skylar!
And the other 2 wires were for the Reverse Light switch.

The B/W cable was the starter signal one as said above, and I wired that to the KE70 one which came out at the fusebox. Was the exact same gauge and colour as the 4age one, so made it easy as to spot. Only problem I had with that was that I was getting too much voltage drop when trying to crank, but a friend wired in a relay to the starter signal wire and she cranks perfect!

Hope this helps.

Thanks again everyone for the input!
