I just wanted to know how people go about getting rid of all the rust in there hachi/ke they all rust in the same spots and mine has rust everywhere so I don't care what you've fixed i just wanted to know what methods people are using on different parts of their car I’ve done a bit on my hachi and still have lots to do I’ll put some pic’s up later

i hit all the spots with a wire brush so i could see how much it had actually eaten away, then cut the area's out and made plates and welded them in and grind it back welded abit more and then bog

the rust in the back of my hachi was pretty bad

first i just cut out the beaver panel 30mm above the floor and then removed the lower section completely

i had this 90deg piece made up at a normal fabrication shop it’s the same thickness as what was removed, because its so thin I was able to easily bend it to suit the radius of the rear then it was just a matter of slowly welding it in without warping anything as for the lower section I was able to buy the panel from Toyota for $350 it just has to be spot welded in and it done ill get some more pic's when it’s done if I’m doing anything wrong or you think I could do something different tell me as I’m teaching myself and I am in no way telling you how shit should be fixed this Is just the way I’m doing it

Sorry I didn't mean to come across as being rude

Nice work Sam that’s pretty much what I’ve been doing so far just cutting it out and welding new stuff in
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/4759/img0512t.jpg
That’s the top piece all welded in ignore the angle as it's not attached to the floor yet
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/5537/img0510t.jpg
And the lower panel I got from Toyota, just needs to be all spot welded together and I’m done
Has anyone done the rear guards I’ve heard the xf falcon guards fit in the rear as they have a similar shape

I offered my rust repair services a while back and didn't even get a nibble. Oh well too late now.

Now KE70GT it's neat your doing such a proffesional effort there but why reinstall that pannel at all?

my original panel was completely rusted out and i don't want to pay someone to respray my car if it's just going to rust up and look like shit again in a year or two also holds my fuel tank in and adds support to the boot i think you need the panel for rwc as well I’m not sure
