anyone else asking themselves the same questions when looking at the above engine bays? AC??? WHY?
Nicko
24th December 2008, 01:26 PM
Bit of performance, bit of luxury. Probably isn't a stripped out vibrating tin can like half the other cars out there?
And if its a car from the Northern part of Australia, I wouldn't begrudge them for wanting AC in the weather we've been having. The 37 degree day from last week was bloody murder.
My AC is borked in the RS at the moment and I curse myself for not getting it fixed before now...
Beau
24th December 2008, 02:18 PM
but i think there is only one aussie car in those pics. (above) the rest are JPN. One being Miguels (1st pic) His engine is a fully built motor, to me it just seems pointless to go to that much effort to keep the AC.
But im super jealous of your great weather, its so shit down here at the moment.

Is it carby? I mean it definitely still has the physicaly shit there (could just be using it for the "quad throttles")?
Still looks to have a lot of stuff EFI going on in there though .. fuel rail/pressure reg etc

Nice torana though
nothing wrong with push rod v8s. some people who like them are meat heads. but the engines themselves really can be a very smart solution to a lot or motorsport "problems".
all that effort into a build and they are using a dizzy? I dont get it
.. a lot of japanese 4age tuners dont bother to change it, as it seems like it can work and work well for even 200hp+ 9000rpm+ builds. i guess they just see fit to spend the money where its needed, and only where its needed.
10psi of oil pressure at full noise .. here we come!

cool oil temps don't make up for a lack of oil pressure though d ;)
but that said, as above, 'they know 4AG's better than any of us'
driftke70
4th February 2009, 02:05 PM
ive heard of people adapting the high pressure oil pump from a gen3 3s into 4a
he could have an external oil pump or dry sump or anything,
if its all fitted properly it should lose too much pressure anyways, it will just take longer to build, once its all flowing through you might find a bigger less restrictive oil cooler is better than a smaller more restrictive one.

They would be using the carbs like a set of quad throttles. With all the jets and stuff removed and just the butterflys left.
