diff leaking

my diff keeps leaking oil onto my passenger wheel from under the drum. i have replaced the seal twice and am sure it is not the problem. what else could it be?

It is possible for oil to pass between the axle and the ring that runs against the lip seal. It's normally caused by someone with no idea removing the bearing and in doing so, damaging the axle.
You may need to remove the axle and take it to a diff shop to have a new ring pressed on after they linish and polish the axle surface beneath it.

Are you sure you are not damaging the seal when you fit it? Are you using a large socket to press/drive it home?

what diff?, it may be easier/cheaper to just replace the whole thing with one from a wrecker or something. once you go to take it in to get it looked at and fixed it may cost you more than you expect

long shot but is it possibly the brake slave cylinder leaking?

I very much doubt that this would be the case, it is more likely to be the brake cylinder leaking as wideslider suggested or even more likely a bent axle or damage to the outside circumference of the ring that runs against the lip seal (lockring). A leaking wheel cylinder should be cheap and easy to fix, if the lockring is damaged enough to cause a leak it will cost a little more to fix, although anyone with a bit of experience should be able to fix this at home with some basic tools, hammer, cold chisel and a decent length of pipe (to replace the lockring), if the axle is bent take it to Aussie diffs or somewhere similar and they should be able to straighten it out for you, same deal with the diff housing.

well it has been leaking with 2 different axels and 2 different seals. yes i did use a large socket and gently tapped the seal in. it also has new bearings that were professionally installed. so i am thinking there is some irregularity around the seal and this is causing the leak. it is only minor and im pretty sure i can deal with it till i snap another axel.

Make sure you have a smell of the fluid leaking to make sure it is diff oil, and yeah check your axle seals to make sure they are not deformed, it does not take much damage to make them leak.

warped housing?? sometimes snapping axles can do that

well it has been leaking with 2 different axels and 2 different seals.

It is starting to sound like a brake leak.......Double check the wheel cylinders?
