I need to order a new one but the part number thats on the TPS I have is a little smudged.

Can someone run to their car and check the number please?

This is for a JDM 96 KW engine.

Can I use another TPS from another 4AGE? like a AE82 bigport with my JAP ecu?

You can use a TPS from some Cressidas and a 6cly (?) Camrys. I'll grab the part number and car models you can take them off for you tonight.

The part number on mine is 89452-28040.

The cars which should also run these TPS's are,

83-87 Corolla
84-89 MR2
82-85 Celica
84-88 Cressida

Also read that 89452-28060 should also work.

The TPSs are easily found at the wreckers, on the search for mine at Centre Rd Wreckers, I found 4. I only stopped searching for more because they were all hard to take off (random hoses, brackets in the way of screws to remove TPS). :P

I managed to find one off some newish corona. Not the same part number but its the same TPS.

My problem is not the TPS, the car still runs like crap..... :(

It idles just. When you throttle it, the car splutters and chokes until it reaches constant revs then it is ok, sort of. Pretty much it doesn't accelerate smoothly.

I don't know if that explained it properly but its a bit hard to describe.

mine had the same problem a while ago, and turned out it was running too rich. i worked out it was the coolant temp sensor, try unplugging it at the back of the head, and see if that makes any difference..

There are two sensors at the back of the head, which one do I unplug?

Ill try after work, fingers crossed.

The one on the left is the EFI coolant sensor. The one on the right is the start-time sensor for 5th injector. Unplugging it is not a fix, just a check-and-see thing to do.

Yeah i know, I hope its that so that I can fix it.

Ive checked/replaced almost everything else and I am losing it, its just sitting in my drive way and im hanging to drive it after the 4AGE swap.

Timing is definately A.O.K???

Maybe try borrowing another MAP sensor off someone else, or cleaning it out if you can.

All vacuum hoses and shit hooked up how they should be?

Timing is ok, I can only get it to a minimum of 0 or 15 degrees.

Ill try cleaning the MAP sensor out as well, but all the vac hoses are where they should be.

yeah I'm not saying, unplug it as a fix, just to get a sense if that is the problem...if it is...easy/ cheap fix...another suggestion, is borrow someones map sensor, easy swap, one bolt, one vac line, one plug...that can be the problem as well
