best bet taking that picture to a place that sells paint......

if your in brisbane, johns paint shed in lytton is the place to go.

KNOWONE is goin to know the paint code.

and i doubt there is a paint code since when was the last time you saw a standard car with that colour?

it will just be saturn black. but you might need some different type of clear as you say. the paint shop will know...

There is a company I saw in a Hotrod magazine who do a 2pak matt black for the rat rod look, try google rat rod matte black or something to find it.

its probly just a standard back with matt clear over it.
now heres the trick when painting things like this.
you cant polish any fuck ups or dirt out. coz it will just go shinny.
it takes a skilled and patient painter(s) to pull off that look in one go.

there was two dope bentleys done in a matt finnish. 1 was a matt black and the other a matt black & matt sliver 2 toned 1. they were sex on wheels.

Saturn black?

LOL, Saturn black, made by NASA and used to paint Uranus???

+1 on the matte (or satin) 2k clear over black base. I did some bike fairings that way but used a blue base.
Looked tricky/sexy/mint. And didn't fingerprint easily either.
Also agree on the repair issue, no way of cutting damage out of the paint or blending a paint repair. The whole panel would have to be repainted.

yeah. its satin. not saturn.

i would have thought there is no clear on that car. and just a flattening agent mixed in to the base coat. the more you add the more matt the colour will turn out. to get the look you want, you may have to paint a few test pieces, to work out what ratio you need.

I've tried that too, but they don't recommend mixing higher than 50% matting agent and the 30% mix i tried was nowhere near flat enough. It looked more like acrylic does straight off the gun. Then I tried the matte clear and got a fantastic result. The other benefit of the clear is that you can use it over a metallic base for an awesome look and it's still a 2k finish. Late model R1 yamaha's use something like this effect in one of their colour schemes.

The matte clear is actually quite easy to work with. It didn't seem to matter if one area got a little more on it, the sheen level was very even. I'd be keen to try a bonnet in it.
