Hey there crowd,

I am looking at buying an ae85 sprinter, it has the 3au motor but i need to know if the gearbox is a t50? Because the block is not a 4a series it would have different mounting points correct? So the conversion would be more difficult? Thats about it folks.

Thanks http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

Well there isn't many AE85's in Australia. Im sure there the same. 3A, 1S, 2T-GE, 3T-E, 4A all could use the T50, but it might be a T40. Just look under the bonnet, it should say on the compliance plate.

Cheers

Beau Yates was an ae85, correct me if him wrong but him 98% sure.

The original colour of his sprinter was panda, also it has drums.

yeah i found info off some random site, the ae85 came with a k50 gearbox, only difference was it has a clutch cable, instead of hydrolic.

so did the ae85

Remember, is car was on HPI (silver) so it had to be an import.
I read somewhere that the car was imported.

I just read the article.
Before we get into that, though, let us just confirm that this car really is a Jap AE86. The fact it has drum brakes fools some thinking it is a local car or a converted AE85 but the base-model AE86 Levin GT did have drum brakes in the first series.

Cheers

or was it a k50 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif
From what I have read in a Corolla history book, the AE85 was available in ... It also had a cable clutch K50 gearbox. It is the same box internally as KE ...

Hmm i still dont know if a k50 bolts onto a 4age. Shed some light someone? Or if the engine mounts for a 3au are the same as 4age.
