hey, just wondering if someone could help me out?
i wanna spray my engine bay cause its a shit dirty grey/silver colour,
i want to do it all my self, a mate said to use oven cleaner to clean it all up, then i give it a light sand back, i want to paint it satin black

will i need a prima or something?
how much paint should i buy?
whats the best technique to use?
i have done spraying before, but i got no idea how to prep it right, or where to get the stuff from

all so how much paint does it take to spray a whole car, without bonnet but with door wells included?
cheers

go to motormate buy some prepsol/prepwash. get a green scourer from the kitchen use soap and water and scourer and scrub every single inch of the engine bay. onceits dry (blow off with air blower or rag dry) use a clean rag prepsol and go over the whole area with it use a primer surfacer or watever primer you like then paint!

Pfft, just give it a good clean with degreaser. spray it all down with a high pressure hose and then dry it all up.
Tape up everything u dont want to paint.
Grab 2 cans of primer, spray it up!
Grab 2 cans of good paint (with anti rust), and spray away.
Then sit back and admire. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Total cost $20.

And for the people who laugh at the cheapness on my 'ghetto engine bay paint job'... i'd say the pictures are prof enuff. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Nah, i just gave it a quick rub down with some sand paper, just ruff enuff to take off the clear coat. Then gave it a clean and wash before i started applying the primer from the spray cans. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

All I did with mine is hit it with some scotch guard (you can buy this from Coles) wipe it down with max and grease remover (aka prepsol or even acetone) tape off and then just hit it with some acrylic. Comes up a million bucks.

I think that 20v wiring distracts from the cleaness on the piant in the engine bay http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

But looks good. Fresh Paint always makes things look like new. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

That brace ur talkin about would be a aspec style brace.... i believe truenosedan made the square copy of these (as seen in '20v monster' car).

So ask either 'truenosedan' or 'Steve AE86' on the forums.
