I dont know if this is the right section but if it isnt mods please re located it. Any member that has a sound system in their hachi i was just wondering how did you go about doing it. I mainly want to know how people custom made their parcel shelfs for their 6x9's or splits or whatever. If possible could you also post some pictures so i get an idea what to do.

thanks edz.

Use the factory one, and bolt a 18mm thick board of MDF underneath it for rigidity

My opinion is that the sprinter doesnt really need any back speakers reason is that the car is just so small in side, ive got a sent of 4inch component speakers in the front and then im going to get a small 10inch sub for some bass and it would be plenty. I guess it just depends on what kind of setup you are going for.

I think that most people that have put speakers on the parchel shelf would probably just cut holes into the standard one. If you didnt want to do that you could just make up a template and just cut one out of mdf and use that.

also if you have a look on toymods I remember one of the memebers there sam Q had one that he was making out of wood in his members ride section and it look quite solid

i cut holes and screwed a stick underneath in the centre front to back cos it was starting to fold and crack with the weight

I cut holes in mine and chucked in some panasonic 6x9's. Rare, meh. Most hachi's are stripped out these days anyway. I know mine will be soon.

I got 4" kenwood speakers with crossovers and tweeter, pioneer head deck and the panasonic 6x9's, pretty good sound wise for a hachi being only small.

OK. if you want to save your old parcel shelf, here's what you do.

1) take it out
2) make a template of it
3)Go to fucking bunnings or some other expensive arse wannabe handyman place, and buy some 18mm thick MDF or plywood.
4)use the template and cut out a new parcel shelf with bigger speaker holes
5) go to spotlight, wear a hoodie and a mask if you don't want to be recognised, and buy some ridiculous material to cover it in. Mine is covered in purple fur.
6)bolt your 6x9's in.

If you fuck this up, you're an idiot. (yes, im seedy and tired, leave me alone)

Made my shelf (and half my interior) out of 6mm mdf. Sealed the MDF with penetrol to stop swelling due to moisture and glued stretch carpet to it. Also used patches of dynamat on the underside of the shelf to stop it resonating and sapping power from my speakers. Hatch shelf being larger, you'd want to add reinforcing to make sure it doesn't flex too much.

Or build an aircraft wing like SamQ is - that looks awesome!

I was far to lazy to do all this, i just bought 6x9 speaker boxes and put them on the parcel shielf, sucured em with valcro on the bottom on the boxes.. this was all good untill i realised how much of a blind spot this created. now i dont run a parcel shielf, i have the speakers in the box on the floor of the boot and i have my back seats folded down.. i rarely have people in the back, i try to avoid it. and when u do have people just fold the seats up.. as for frount, i cut holes in the doors and ran 6"s i wanted noise http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

i have an ingenious plan for mine when its actually goin for some 'sikening' speakers. should look alright, well not look like anything at all.......shall show all in this post if and when i do it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif
