Im looking for a new clutch for my car. It's a 100kw 4AG (from an AE92). Its had a few mods so it should be a fair bit over 100kw now. Would a standard AE92 clutch be ok or should I go heavier duty? I also want the car to be drivable, so nothing too heavy duty.
Also the engine is on an old celica T50 gearbox. I think the AE92 clutch is what it needs but if anyone knows differently let me know too.
Cheers

Also I found this clutch on ebay. Clutch Kit (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-COROLLA-CLUTCH-KIT-AE-90-AE92-1991-1994_W0QQitemZ4545954149QQcategoryZ10428QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem)
Which sounds pretty cheap to me. Ive only asked one other place and they quoted $300 for a clutch, which sounds pretty expensive but still I would expect around $200 for a clutch. Anyone have any thoughts?

if it's on a celica gearbox, you'll have to get a bit of a custom made one.. not sure if an off the shelf will fit.. assuming you have a 200mm flywheel like mine.. you'll need a celica t-50 clutch plate spline to be built with a ae92 clutch combo.. are you in brisbane? i can get one made up for you very easily, good mates with NPC up here.. and can send etc etc..
it also depends on what sorta driving/racing you do.. drift? circut racing? etc etc.. prolly a 4-5 ceramic pad style (4 or 5 puck there known as) with a spring center, with about 1800-2000lbs clamping pressure would be good, still very very street/car park able.. but bites very nice for clutch kicking in drift.. approx cost is $350 and it will require your flywheel for the optimal setup, as he will grind that flywheel, and setup the clutch on it so you know it will be 100% right..

what sorta car is it in? i'm obviously it's a 4AGE..with a celica t-50.. so the celica t-50 box input spline is 1 tooth smaller than the AE86 box..so you have to get a celica clutch disc, and use a 4AGE pressure plate and flywheel.. what you have to research is how big the TA22 celica clutch is (dia) and match it with your flywheel..thats why a custom clutch will be so much easier, as you would have to in a sense buy 2 clutches to make 1.. and even then it will only be a crappy organic disc with a 'heavy duty' pressure plate.. which is usually only 15-20% more than stock.. not worth it if you ask me.. you replace the clutch you improve on it.. then you don't have to pull it out again for ages..

The cars a 1972 TA22 Celica. I know the pressure plate will be an ae92 and I've read in a thread on toymods (here) (http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&th=29314&rid=11959&S=9c33e4f38e0e8cbbd7c7e9b1972772c1&pl_view=&start=0#msg_255952)
that the ae92 clutch will fit as well, so I'm reasonably confidant that it'll work. Also theres no identification on the clutch to say what it is, only the pressure plate.
I'm gonna contact the guy I got the car off to see if he knows, but I'm not that sure that he will either.

all the more reason to do it proply take the clutch out and get a new one setup on the flywheel..

It does sound like an easy way to go but also expensive. If its just an AE92 clutch kit then its all straight foward and relativly cheap.

just go for a heavy duty ae92 pressure plate and then get a brand new clutch plate

still havn't ans the key question.. what is the car going to be used for? is it just a dialy driver? does it get drifted? or raced? this will influence the choice you make greatly.. anyone who puts a full faced standard organic disc into a drifter is going in the wrong direction..

It'll be a daily driver, but I'd like to be able to take it to the track every now and then. I'm not really a burnout/drag/donut kind of person tho. So It'll have to be heavy duty plus the cars got a bit of power and the last clutch was very balding, but I still want it to be easily drivable. The main question is heavy-duty-organic or ceramic.

just use standard clutches , easier on your box and still last for a long time (i drift my car regularly) and they bite well.

I thought the AE92 clutches were 212mm, same as the AW11's?

I use a RPM Clutch. Only a little bit more expensive than the standard kit and you can tell the difference. Recommended unless the car does get thrashed around a track than probably go with a Exedy or something

what kind of prices are these clutches? Im expecting around $150 for a standard clutch, $200-250 for a heavy duty and around $300 for a ceramic clutch. Does this sound right? Who should I buy from?
I'd probably prefer a street-driveable ceramic or heavy duty clutch depending on price.

tell you what my clutch is like..
200mm 8 bolt flywheel, lightened
4 puck ceramic (mostly carbide pads) disc with a sprung centre
2000lbs Excedy pressure plate
the clutch feels just a tiny bit heavier than a normal clutch, but i would suggest if they are original items to replace your slave and master cyl for the clutch.. my slave cly cost $48 from memory, and the master cyl was $45 cheaper than the slave! normal prices..not trade etc.. while your there you might aswell..
a dakin h/duty (uses excedy pressure plate) goes for about $180 trade price.. $260 RRP or so last time i checked..
