Hey guys (gals). My mate and I both have hachis (duh...) but my friends is not registered or currently roadworthy. The only problem is that we have fitted a set of D2 coilovers and stripped the rear etc.

What are the chances of him getting a RWC and hoping he does get one, how do the police react to these sort of mods? ie. getting pulled over and canarys n shit.

I just like to gauge the approach the 5-0 and road authorities deal with highly modded hachis. Of course this would vary from state to state but generally speaking......

would help if your tell us what state you are in :0 as the laws for what is road worthy and what you can and cannot do regarding permits is different from state to state http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

i am pretty sure you need full interior, seats and seatbelts, for roadworthy basically anything that the car was fitted with standard has to work. this even goes down as far as interior fan and i have seen someone refused a roady because the radio didn't work..... me thinks that inspector was a c*nt!

Im assuming that your from NSW in regards to the comments about the canarys. Here in QLD dont need rear seat, can have cage etc just needs to be registered as a 2 seater and mod plated. Suspension changes arent a hassle here either. Dont know too much about your RWC sides of things though sorry.

Do you still have a rear seat? Remember, the car is registered as a 4 seater, so you will have to get mod plate for that.

i have 6 defects to clear so...

interior wise if its rego'd as a 4 seater you need all your trim for a road worthy and you can get pinged for it by cops if you dont, its to do withe safety, there cant be any sharp edges for passengers to cut themselves on.

if its been rego'd as a 2 seater you can have the rear stripped.

suspension is fine, what you decribed should be ok as long as you can get it high enough. for roadworthy i doubt theyde measure it so as long as it not ridiculous youll be ok.

i got done for too low, no mod plate for seat (fixed back) no horn, no air filters, carbon fibre bonnet and.. i dunno there were lots.. but its rego'd as 2 seater and its very stripped and that was ok. i just have doors trims and a dash, no centre console ect. not even hood lining, which you should have, but they didnt notice.

Here in SA I rang up the Road transport authority here, regarding the removal of my rear seats.

He told me that If I had rear seats that I must have the seat belts. But he said that it is ok to remove the rear seats and have the car registered as a two seater.

He also said if it were him it would be less of a headache by just removing the rear seats.

So my rear seats are gone and its now only a two seater. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

I think with the suspension you need to have it no less than 100 mm from the ground to the lowest part of your car.

You can't get done for coil overs. As long as the height of the car (including the kit, i think) is 10cm or higher

you can get done for any mod here if you dont have a permit for it.

if a cop really didnt like you, he could get you for a steering wheel, or a shift knob.

you could get done for coilovers actually. but if its not too low youre unlikely to.

talk to mates. find someone who's cool and roadworthys can be easy.

Get an unregistered vehicle permit, then go to the road worthy place you plan to have ur road worthy conducted at and ask them about the legalities of such mods.

Seeing as the car is unrego'd i dont see how it can be a problem to have the rear seats taken out..... becuz when you go to have ur car rego'd it will be rego'd as a 2 seater.

And i'd say about 80% of all imports that come into Oz have coilovers on them, so it shouldn't be an issue either (unless ur car is too low). But i have heard in S.A you can get dicked for coilovers.

Really it depends on ur state, who conducts ur road worthy and weather or not the rego *check place/road worthy verifier/the guy that gives u ur rego plates* agrees with the road worthy.

Then once its on the road, its up to the cops. They seem to beable to dick u for ANYTHING.

all the officer has to be of the opinion that the car is not roadworthy and her issues the yellow to have the car checked by someone who should know what they are looking at.

Generally the guys have never seen what you have dun and just are dificult cos it is better to err on the side of caution.

be quiet, be polite, and you should be fine.

i was pulled over for speeding, no interior, racing bucket, bald rear tyres and i was really lucky not to get a yellow.

I would have given me a yellow sticker.

with my old spoonter, I had an engineering certificate for the engine swap, the few times I got pulled over I just whipped out the engineering certificate and the cops backed off, it was like holding a cross at a vampire. The car was too loud, too low, bucket seats etc etc

Thanks for the help guys, Im in melbourne, sorry about the confusion http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/huh.gif I think alot of this is about how the owner goes about modifying their cars in terms of their intended use (track, street, show http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ohmy.gif ) and then working towards the eventual goal.

how inspirational.
