Okies, we have a bigport AE82 motor in our hachi, the dizzy is the original unit with the plugs facing upward (ie out the side of the dizzy), it's a Nippon Denso unit i think however when we go to the shop to buy a new dizzy cap (it's broken http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif) we are presented with a bosch unit that doesn't fit. Is the bosch unit the right part for another 4AGE or have we been given the wrong bit?

you have been sold a 100kw dizzy cap.. it will fit, but only 1 of the hole line up.. chose which one you want to line up, and double check your timing, it might run a but retarded, or mega advanced.. it won't hurt it just having 1 on there..

i have done the same thing.. it was the last thing that i needed to drive my car, so i just chucked it on and forgot about taking it back.. i think the have the listings the other way round.. 88kw cap is actually the 100kw cap and vice versa.. having the leads not come out the top doesn't matter at all, as long as the leads reach you'll be fine..

ae71neo, that looks like a smallport dizzy.

nebechenezer, i bought a cap for mine a while ago, it didn't fit at all. i got one from repco in the end, get them to look up the parts for all the usual suspect corollas and take your cap or dizzy in to compare.

I got one now so all is cool http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif
Just got to wire the rest of the AE82/86 looms into the hachi now though, anyone got a clue about this?
Toyota wiring diagrams are the suck compared to Nissan.

there is virtually no "splicing" of looms to do at all really, just think of it as an engine going into a car with a loom and ECU.

the ECU needs a start signal, give it one. the ECU needs to tell the fuel pump to turn on, wire it up. the ECU needs a constant battery feed - give it one etc etc.

thats all well and good, but you might end up with a couple of KG's of wire and plugs left over.. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif but it will work though
