View Full Version : 4AC clutch onto 4AGE????

Riverside

I currently have an AE71 fitted with the 4AC anchor......the clutch is nearly dead but i do not plan to convert to 4AGE just yet.

If i buy an upgraded clutch to fit to my 4AC now........will i be able to use it on the 4AGE when i convert? If so, do i use the 4AC flywheel? or the 4AGE flywheel? or something else?

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Nico

4ac clutches are a fair bit smaller, than 4Age ones. i'm pretty sure flywheels are the same size ,actually they must be as i used the 20v flywheel with the ADM t50 and 4ac starter so they must be the same size.

if you want a clutch i have my old 4AC one it was alright when i pulled it out when i put my 20v in, still has a fair bit of meat on it

Where are you located? reckon yours will take a bit of "kicking"?

What do you want for it?

Cheers

Just to confirm.........If the flywheels are the same size.....couldn't i then just fit a 4AGE clutch to the back of my 4AC????

Sorry, these may seem like silly questions, but having spent the last few years playing with Nissans, all this toyota stuff is a bit strange to me.

Anyone want an S13 built? lol THAT i can help with http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

The bigport flywheels (200mm) are the same size as the 4ACones, just make sure that there is the correct amount of bolts (6= FWD and lesser speced 4AC 8=RWD 4AC/GE)

yeah, so if you get a bigport, and it has its orginal flywheel youll be able to use your 4ac clutch kit.

both take a 200mm clutch kit.

small port and 20v are 212.

Soi does that mean i can bolt on my 4AC flywheel to a smallport?

4AC - 200mm
Big Port GE - 200mm

small port GE - 212mm

interesting...

so would a trd clutch made for the 200mm flywheel fit a 212mm one?

flamingheads, you are totally wrong.

4AC, very early 4AGE = 6 bolt flywheel

later models are all 8 bolt.

my smallport is a FWD motor, and it is 8 bolt, as are the majority of 4AGEs.

and a 200mm clutch TRD made might maybeye fit a bigger flywheel, but you might run into trouble once it starts wearing out, and you would be much better off getting a biger clutch, as it will handle more torque.

See now you are all confusing me........you all have different answers.

Last thing i want is to buy a decent clutch and then have to throw it out when i convert to 4AGE.

NooB i might be.......but all these contradicting answers don't make my life any easier.

I have had the same issues with the suspension.....so many bits and pieces to change and source from totally different cars, and when advised, small things are often forgotten, so when you think you are nearly done......something doesn't fit.

What started as a very low budget drift Hack is quickly becoming an expensive little crapbox.

I was told I have a 96kw engine and I know it has a 6 bolt clutch. It is likely that the flywheel was changed or that I have a 88kw though because I think I have a celica T50 gearbox. So I guess I probably am wrong http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg .

Ok i hope this helps you all then:

4ac = 6 bolt flywheel and 200mm clutch

4age = 8 bolts as far as i know (never heard of earlier ones having a 6 bolt) 200mm clutch

4age AE92 > have a 212mm clutch and flywheelalso a 8 bolt flywheel

20v 4age = 8 bolt 225mm (I think, note that im not a 20v boi http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif)

Flamingheads - I have no idea how on earth a later model 4age can have less bolts than an earlier version.

*edit*

Just reread your post Flamingheads - It doesnt matter which 4age you have got as its going to have an 8 bolt flywheel.

biggo is right except for the bit that 20Vs have a 225, they have a 212mm. So here is the summary:

4ac = 6 bolt flywheel and 200mm clutch

4age = 8 bolts as far as i know and 200mm clutch

4age AE92 > 8 bolt flywheel and have a 212mm clutch

4agze = 8 bolt and a 225mm clutch

20v 4age = 8 bolt and a 212mm clutch

I am running a 4ac clutch on my 4age 88kw, they are the same

Sam had it pretty spot on. I think the 200 vs 212 divide was rwd vs fwd though. It would be interesting to hear from someone with an factory 4AGE AE82.

Also apparently the 20V has the lightest of the factory 212mm flywheels.

A 200mm 4AGE clutch will bolt up to and work perfectly on a 4AC.

Also, 4afe and 7afe got 6 bolt cranks, not sure of flywheel size on them though.

AE82 4AGE, is 200mm.

yeah i thought all 16v's were 200mm then gze and 20v went 212mm and up...

as far as im aware you can use 212 fly wheels with 16v's and t50's but have to use a clutch made for that flywheel...ie 20v or gze clutch.
