Hey, im sure everyone who has done a 4age conversion in a sprinter will realise they need a longer slave clyinder hose because of the extractors (goes right in the path of the hose would go normally).

Im trying to get one atm... This arvo at enzed they quoted me $110 for the hose because apparently it needs to be braided as it is that close to the extractors. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/angry.gif
Im sure many or most of you havent had to go as far as a braided hose for this... Can you please post the solutions you had to this problem and where you got it from

Also, for anyone that knows... what did the jdm sprinters do? do the extractors go differntly? or a differnt slave cylinder? Just curious as to what toyota beleives was 'good enough'...

Thanks

Im interested in hearing the outcome of this too..

factory 4age vehicles run the clutch slave on the intake side(driver),

i think braided clutch sounds the go or even run the normal line as far as you can, then run a braided hose from where the fixed line wont do the job, hope that makes sense.

Use a banjo fitting on the clutch slave, so the hose can leave at 90degrees to how it normally does. I got one made for $30 at the local brake joint. Then route the hose directly up to the firewall (give it a little slack so that your motor can twist a bit).

You'll need to bend the metal line to end at the right spot, and move the connection mount at the end of the metal line, but that is insanely easy.

If you still have clearance issues you can try getting your extractors heated up and bent slightly to increase clearance.

nah go unbraided first....
wen the line pops then u will realise why people go braided

or u can buy a jap bellhousing with a drivers side slave to completely avoid rupturin any hoses at all
=)
just a thought

i agree that its a smart idea to go braided, but i do beleive it is not entirely nessecary. A mate of mine has a 4age sprinter, uses a normal hose. This thing has had the 4age in it for a year... not a problem

so im looking into getting a line mad up where he got his done, should be about $40-$60... monk ill give ya a yell when/if i get it done there and give you the details if you like

I could check at repco but i think the hose would need to be a custom one, the two ends seem to be the sorta fittings that arnt as common as dirt on the ground...

thanks for the info help

I got a braided line made up witha banjo fitting for my conversion. The stupid thing costed $100, but hell, it works and without problems. I also got it extended a fair bit as not to hit onto the exhaust. Other than that yeah, I found it to be a simple and safe way to do it all.

I chose to go braided line, cus I also got a JDM bellhousing with my engine package. But it meant I had to source out a clutch slave and fabricate clutch lines. So that required more effort than was needed.

That's my 2cents http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

If you have a JDM bellhousing with the slave on the opposite side to the exhaust, a braided line is a waste of money. It is very easy and cheap to bend your own hydraulic tubing from the master to the slave, then use a standard rubber hydraulic line to a T18 slave. If you have an ADM bellhousing you would be stupid not to use a braided line.

you'll probably melt a rubber hose... i did.
if you want some cheap hose go to a motor racing event with formula ford in it. they throw away bent wishbones with almost brand new braided hoses in them... got some at the clipsal 500 the other weekend! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

Braided line isnt really all that expensive, it is the fittings that cost all the money. I run braided brake line throughout my car and they are great.

I would be trying to run the clutch line out of rubber if you can get enough clearance from the exhaust, if not the JDM bell house is a much better option, I am quite sure the slave is the same as another model toyota. So they should be easily available.

I didnt realise it would be such a issue for people.....
I just detached the line from the side of the chassis rail and bent the bent the metal line back and upwards away fromt he exhuast. Then wrapped the rubber hose with a bit of heat wrap. Never had a problem. Took 2mins to solve the problem. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

depends on what headers you have. the ones well sell run pretty close to the clutch slave so i dont think that will for. you really need a banjo end where it attaches to the slave.

we can sell you a hose that we use for $30.

I paid $70 for a custom braided one from rovwile brake and clutch, the end had a banjop fitting too. The other day I had to do an emergency repair to a 4Ac powered AE82 one and it moves it even more out of the way, it comes in at the bottom now. For the bracket I took it right off and made a peice of metal that holds the metal line right against the body.
