In an effort to understand a few things about RCA's I thought Id drop a few Q's on the educated members of this forum.......ie: the people who know wtf they are talking about.. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

- When does the fittment of RCA's become a good idea...?

( I know the purpose of them, and roughly how they work) ---- but how low do u have to go for them to be worthwhile... or is it just a matter of realising your suffering from bumpsteer ect... or seeing the angle of the control arms out of alignment?

- Are there any other factors (besides lowering the ride height) that dictate the use of RCA's

- What dictates the size RCA's to use.. ie: 30mm/35mm/40mm ect.

- What are the differences between normal RCA's and Negative RCA's.....? what purpose do both types serve... or more so how do they differ application wise...?

- Are rear RCA's worthwhile....... ? do they have the same effect as front ones, or is the result less pronounced, meaning does the rear become just as out of wack as the front when lowered to the same height..?

Five Q's for your intellect to diffuse and explain................

any help glady appreciated......

Cheers............... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tup.gif

you only need them if you lower the car, and the size you get should be similar to amount that your car has been lowered!

when you lower your 86, you are also lowering the steering rack, but not the steering knuckles. This is why you get bump steer, and the RCA are simply to re-align the rack and knuckles.

afaik, there are no rear RCAs for 86's, and I cant see why there would be.

negative RCA's simply give you negative camber at the same time.

hope that helps! feel free to correct me if i am wrong people

Andrew.

as you can see buy that hideous drawring they correct the steering geometry, and atached are T3 ones.. with thier website.. i wish i could just go shopping online at T3 with unlimited budget.. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif awsome stuff.. i have the normal RCA's in mine at the moment.. and you can notice the difference over a mountain climb etc etc where bumps used to be a problem..

this is a pic of the normal rca's..

and the negative camber RCA's

as you can see they push the hub and angle of the strut out.. thus giving negative camber..

Thats a good pic etc matty , but if you are going to go 40mm etc it can lower the car due to your are moving the hub intersection out on a further angle , so have to use camber mounts to get the strut angle back to get back to the same height .
