102kpa means it is not making any boost, for a stock engine the number should be up around 175kpa, The tuner should have known that!

102kpa means it is not making any boost[/b]
That depends if it is 102kPa absolute or 102kPa boost.
If absolute then yes, no boost at all, and so that means the power figure is impressive for a low comp 4AGE.
If boost then you must have a big pulley on there and the power output is lamentable.

he said it doesnt seem to be runnning much boost.... but on the boost gauge it is saying 0.5bar if that helps

somethings is deffinetly not right there, should be making alot more power, should be making somewhere from about 110-130rwkw
Id get him to look over it again, and if not take it to another mechanic that knows what he's doing!!

Speed Technology/EFI hardware (same place, 2 names) on Monomeeth Pde in Mitcham (9873 5400) tuned mine and I am happy. They specialise in Wolf and Hawk, but may do Haltech. One of the guys there used to own a 4AGZE Kombi van.

If its 102KPA boost (14LB) and its only making that HP I would be woried bigtime!!
I havent worked with a haltec for a long time but I think they measured absolute so 102 kpa= atmospheric pressure= no boost, which would make sense for the crappy HP figure.
.5 bar= 7LB boost.. I would still be worried about the HP.

If you like, you can drive round some time, park your car next to mine and compare things under the bonnet. I will be at home doing car work a few evenings this week. I live in Rosanna. PM if interested.
Hen
PS, I am not offering to spend hours and hours under your bonnet troubleshooting your car. However I can provide "learned" advice.

The only other thing is was there dyno calibrated correctly.. possibly not.
42Kw sounds way too low for no charger on

ok boys and girls here is the 4-1-1 so to speak today we were pretty quite so i decided to bring it in and have a good look i found a couple of things for some reason the old owner had put a t-piece into the brake booster line and ran a big hose into the front guard and put a fitting on it with a bit of foam home made B.O.V maybe... so i blocked that off... seems to idle better... then i found that a fair few of my intercooler oins r flaring massively.. so new intercooler pipes r on the cards... then i heard a leak coming from the top intercooler hose....hmmm maybe thast why i have such low boost so i have some hose that i will puut on and see how it goes also i found out my boost gauge reads in kg/cm2 soo KPA??? so that means im runnin about 0.5KPA of boost or 0.07PSI of boost so ill go and tinker after tea and reveal to everyone how my reslts went

it couldnt be .5kpa.. atmosphere pressure (ie zero boost) is like 102kPa..

SC may be buggered...
Remember when u told me it had a switch? SC's do like being turned on/off at will as it wears the rotors out = less compressed air.
Also, check all ic joints and pipes as boost leaks are quite common in shoddy cars sold by asians http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

LOL what are your intercooler joins made from??
dustyae86
17th May 2006, 08:06 PM
a couple of things :| umm some are silicone and some are factory crappy rubber ones you can feel that it is boosting cause u can hear it and feel it cause if you turn it off its even slower
