Dizzy oil leak

I have oil slowely dripping out of my dizzy, i beleive its the rubber seal that is on the inside. It looks ok condition but there is obviously oil getting past it and falling onto the ground. has mad a minor stain on the road after about two weeks.

Does anyone know how much it would be for a new one of these? i guess bursons or toyota would have them...

There are 2 o-rings

One is external and is replacable

One is internal and i'm not sure but I don't think its a user-servicable part

This is a common 4AG problem

Toyota carry the o-rings on the shelf

yeah try replacing the outer O ring first. itll be cheap.

the inner one require you to undo a blind "rivet" and remove the driving gear off the dizzy shaft.

there are probably specialists that could do the job for you. but its not really a big deal. like nick said its a common problem.

yea, i was wondering that myself one how youd replace the iner seal...

the outer one you say... it could be that there isnt one there lol... as i cant remember seeing one. will have another look tmro.

Still have to replace that, as well as get other things done for this... but i took a pic of the dizzy this arvo as i was attempting to do my timing.

Seeing as im not terribly Proficient with playing around with dizzy's, do these pics look right? the afor mentioned external o ring, is that the one that is seen in these pics?

if thats the one ill get onto toyota and get a new one of them, becuase there is obviously oil leaking past it.

basically you can feel, when the dizzy is properly on, oil leaking out the bottom of the port thats in this pic.

the o ring in your pic is a common failure. however, if there is oil inside the dissy when you remove the cap, then the internal seal has failed. we have all the gear to change these. not really a big deal, but fiddly. we always test the dissy on our scope to make sure the magnetic pick-up clarances are OK. i can supply reco exchange for some versions, or fix yours.

Ah, i see. I think it may just be the outer one (seen there)

however, the inside one may be on its way too as i think i remember a drop of oil on the inside the other day. Could have just driped of my finger tho.

Will get onto replacing that outer one first
