gday everyone,
i am about to start my new project, i have a 86 jdm black/blue bigport engine with a standard exhaust manifold that will be going into a ae71.
i was just wondering what the trd copy extractors are like, i sort of gathered that if they where a copy of a trd item they should work pretty well.
does anyone (think vtec does) have a set fitted to a 71 engine bay, do they fit and if so how well?

Seriously though, let me know if you sell the manifold and I may buy it off you.

I have ae86 so I can't comment on fitment in ae71, and I also can't compare to other exhaust manifolds as this is the only one I have used. It seems to work fine, but I'd like to HPC coat it and heat wrap it when money allows.

yeah i have a set of these in my ke70 - fit like a charm. if you can afford proper trd extractors theyd be a little better - dont knoe by how much, but the copies have reasonably sharp angles exiting the exhaust ports which could affect gas flow. other than that, theyre pretty good and ive heard other people say good things about them. plus theyre pretty cheap so you cant go wrong

Keep the factory manifold. They work really well.

I have seen a blacktop 20V in KE25 racecar pull 123rwkw (or so) using the factory RWD manifold. Also read of one of Bill Sherwood's old engines pulling 142rwhp (or so) using the cast manifold.

Expensive extractors will give minimal improvement in my opinion, though they may affect the sound.

guess ill be sticking with the standard manifold, if its close to the trd's i cant see any reason to upgrade to them. may aswell but the money that i will save towards the suspension set-up i have in mind http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

Yep dollar for dollar money spent on suspension and braking will yield greater value for money and performance potential compared to engine peripherals only.
