Hey guys,

I know were gonna get posts like a box of potatoes or a case of beer, but lets be realistic.
As being a huge part of 86s in the land of Aus i think we should have a firm pricing on 86, i know there will be variables and alot of things will come into play but a simple $xxx - $xxxx can be used.

My opinion is a unmodified Adm sprinter with very minimal rust and good paint $2500 - 4000.

And a jap with the same $10000-13000

What do you guys think?

How bout modded ones?

Lightly modded, wheels, interior bits (nardi etc)

Modded, Wheels, exhaust, interior bits, 4age etc

Highly modded boosted, 4age, wheels, jdm bits, t series etc

Yeah man jap could mean anything tho?
I think in mint condition and minimal modding
SR5 $2000-$5000
GT $5000-$8000
GTV $8000-$12,000
GT-APEX $10,000-$15,000
Like if you have an SR5 (the equalivent of ADM) and upgrade to a 4AGE you basically have a GT so then your car will fall into that pricing catagory..
But all you got to do really is keep tabs on what people sell there cars for (not advertise) what someone actually took it off there hands for..
I know of a clean, relatively un-modded GT-APEX Panda sedan that recently sold for 15k and mine is the same if not better condition so knowing this it would be a guideline of what I would ask for it if it was ever on the market..

I think when dudes sell there car on here they should really post up what they got for it so we have a clue what there currently worth..?

I've noticed prices have become pretty reasonable lately, people arent wanting massive amounts for run-of the mill ADM 86's. I paid 2.5k for mine, 160,000km, fair bit of rust in the back, decent paint, and 2 complete engines. /so i dont think i did too bad.

Further more i think that most people think a JDM is a JDM and an ADM is an ADM..
Like how many times have i seen people sell a JDM 4age automatically as a GT-APEX??
When it is obviously a SR5, GT or GTV... the only certainty that a JDM is a real GT-APEX is an ORIGINAL panda paint job and factory decals in tact.. I think people should be educated on this so they either dont pay or try sell there car for more than its worth..

thats true shinobi, but why an sr5 thats only american model 86s?

dont you mean adms?

its too hard to price modified cars. if we're talking stock adm id pay maybe up to 3k. for a stock jdm maybe 7-8k. and for a mint as restored "tube garage" style gt apex i think i'd pay some where around the 10-12k mark

AE86R

so how bout all the jdmers on carsales goin for $15k..

my cars from tube muahaha

id never pay 15k for a ae86 just not worth it rather get a cheap shitter then spend 5k and have it the way you want

true, though if it is rust free, modded, sus, jdm bits, wheels etc

i can see a point cause theres always negotiation lol..

11k cashh.

But not like that bleeding panda stocker that wants 20k one day and 30k another.

but notice that black limited on car sales is down to like 25k now. i still wouldnt pay it because i'd never want to drive it. so whats the point of buying a car you wont drive

AE86R
23rd December 2008, 12:17 PM
yeah i wouldnt drive it either its shit ugly but if u had a room full of dosh youd buy it and stick it in your garage, cause obviously in time to come it would be worth a bit.

If u notice, the black limited the bleeding panda and another 86 are all getting sold by the one person, some backyarder

there is a fairly large difference between an sr5 and an adm. an adm is actually a better car. sr5s are cable clutch and run a k50 transmission.

bringing sr5s into the equation is actually fairly pointless, as theyre fairly pointless to import, and thats why you dont see them hardly ever. cost of bringing them in v's what you can sell them for just dont add up.

the way i see it.

adm, stock. 1500-4000. 4k would have to have rego.
adm, 4age, crap sussy up to 6k.
adm good sussy, good wheels, ect, up to 8k
heavily modded adm, 20v/ze ect, lsd, good jap wheels 8j+ upto 11k.

j' cars start at around 7 (or did, maybe not now with the ex') but thats for something that probably shouldnt get past compliance (but they do).

max is 15. to pay 15, the car has to be the type of car that japanese buyers may pay up to 15 for.

a good price to pay for a j' car is around 11ish. with you dealing directly with the importer, and choosing the car for yourself from auction/one of their brokers, and waiting for it.

you have to expect to pay more for a car thats already landed. you can also expect to get atleast of few mods, or a really mint car, one of the other. things like lsd, coilovers, bolt on ex' with headers, billet flywheel, tuned ecu, short shift, nardi wheel, tower braces ect. sometimes you can get both if youre lucky.

also, in our market, there is really no difference between a gt/gtv/gt apex. its more down to condition/mods. kouki cars (or zenki cars with kouki exterior features) are worth a premium though.

i dunno about 11k for a adm, but if it had all the jap bits on it and was heavily modified with good paint no rust then yes.

But alot and i mean alot of people try knock defected adms with 4ages with s series rear end still for 11k.

Everything thats coming from the auction houses these days are all R cars (repaired)

Very hard to find a grade 3.5+ even grade 2 are rusted out.

I payed 14000 for my old trueno had jap sussy, trd 2way, ssr mk3s, got to choose my own interior out of another hachi lol, adjustable everything, braces everywhere, cage etc..

The car was unbelievable immaculate, no rust and i mean none and no real previous major damage, maybe a few carpark dings etc. But to hand over 14k wasnt like i was the one thinking it was a steal

Wasnt the GT-Apex the only one to come with a digital dash?

the answer is just too broad. condition of body/year model/body style/damage/paint/wheels/running gear/cleanliness of conversion/condition of running gear/suspension setups/interior cleanliness/glass/rego/tyres etc etc. You cant possibly just group 2,3 or 4 cars together and say this is what THIS group is worth. You could get a nice ADM with good suspension for 5k or you might get an absolute bomb of a JDM for 12k, But on the same token you could get a really nice JDM for 8-9k or buy an ADM that isnt worth even parting out for 10k.

$15,000 is the going price for top of the line JDM AE86
there are also plently of top ADM shells out there with the JDM upgrade that are also worth the coin aswell.

everbody has there own idea of what there car is worth, but at the end of the day take into consideration the XY GTHO which sky rocketed through the roof with it's price.

I will be holding onto mine as long as i can, not to make money but to have a icon car.

my 2cent's.

Well instead of SR5 call it an AE85 then and slydar ive seen heaps brought in because they have a little something ADMs dont have in alot of cases a TRUENO front end..

Wasnt the GT-Apex the only one to come with a digital dash?

it was an option for zenki gt-apex. not all had them but the answer is yes, only a zenki gt-apex came out with a digital dash because they were the only ones that HAD the option to

well must just be people from down south bringing ae85s in then cos ive only ever seen one in qld.

i can understand bringing one in if say, you were desperate for a coupe. but other than that.. doesnt make sense to me.

there is a really nice one in sydney. couldnt even tell it was an AE85. Basically has everything swapped from an 86.
