help on w58 to ae86 PLZ!!

i have a w58 box, and used a add plate to bolt the stock t50 housing onto the supra box.
but i need help on what damn crossmember to use on the rearof the box. i have searched, but havnt found much in the way of usefull info.


if i could get some info of what crossmembers people used in there conversion, it would be a great help. thnx.

Custom is the only way AFAIK.

Its not too difficult, you use the rubber section from the existing Xmember and then make yourself one that will bolt to the standard part and the car.

yeah, the problem is though, that the bottom of the gearbox sits alot lower, and i dont have a welder :S i was thinking a crossmember off a ra40, or ta series with the w50/w58 box in it might help...?

Wouldd be worth having a crack at it, see if you can find something to fit..!?

From memory there isnt too much of a non fit with standard parts.

simon ae86 told me the other day that he used a ma61 supra x member
and drilled 2 more holes as 2 of the origional holes line up!

get a W5X gearbox mount.. say an RA65 with 22R or 21R engine 5pd from your local repco..

get the car towed to Craig at Extreme Engineering (coopers plains, brisbane) 0412432546.. and he will make one to suit from scratch.. tell him matty with the white 86 sent you..
