Hey guys,

I did a search but couldn't find anything, I think the stuff I am thinking off is possibly on the old forum.

I'm wanting to know if there are any larger throttle bodies that can be bolted on with minimal mods. Obviously I will need to run the same TPS for everything to work.

If anyone knows of any that are direct fit for a JDM bigport 4AGE.

Cheers.

i think EFI hardware make a setup for the 4age maybe give them a call

a 3SGE will be minimal mods 65mm? size
a xf falcon throttle body (requires map sensor) 75mm size
a landcruiser will work little bit of pfaffing about with it though 70mm size
a V6 camry one cant remember if it just bolts up though 65mm size
a 3rz one will work at 70mm? size

i used a v6 camry throttle body on my smallport. its a 3inch one, same as sr20 size.

barely clears the trueno bonet tho !!

Gtr........

gtir?

i think lawson was talking about using 4 of 6 gt-r throttle boddies on a 4age as quads.. it has been done before.

Why would you want to change it..??
Unless you have a crazy engine there is apparently almost no gain to be had from running a bigger throttle body...

your wright there is no gain al all of running a bigger throttle on a 4age but 4agte or 4agze maby but even then why bother with a bigger throttle body upgrade something else for a little more go

So you've guys have done it and tested flow rates? I doubt there would be zero gain.

The next step for me is a rebuild, so I don't know really why I would rather spend 2-3k on a rebuilt or $50 on a slightly larger throttle.

"The inlet throttle butterfly is 55mm in diameter, and will flow more air than any amount of power that you can get out of the 4AGE with the factory inlet manifold, so there is no need whatsoever to fit a larger one, as some people do. I have seen a report on a dyno run that shows an engine with a 60mm throttle body fitted - ~20% more throttle area - making about 1 - 2hp more, which is more likely to be dyno error than anything else."

i was just reading through bill sherwoods page and this got my attention so i thought i would chuck it hear!

i spose if you want to flow more air for N/A, get quads. for turbo i spose the bigger the better!

im using a large FJ20 item for my silvertop turbro.

anyone know how big a diameter each one of the gtr throttles are?

what id like to know is the cost effectiveness of running gtr ITB's....i have a feeling all the custom parts added onto the no-doubt way overpriced "GTR" spec itbs would far outway any gains.

you could make ure own if you took the time i reckon.

a bloke on the old forum has run an sr20 on his 4age thinking it would do a difference he was very wrong IMO save the cash throw some longer duration cams in there that's what im doing ;)

Sprinter86 is correct... there is no chance of maxing out the stock throttle body on a standard manifold...

And as for bigger is better with turbo... This is not true also...
Found an arctical on a sr20 drifter the other day... 509whp with standard 60mm T/Body and standard mani...
A freind of mine makes over 500whp and only runs a 65mm throttle body...

Standard 4a one is fine....
Buy a Hi comp head gasket instead.... You will actually see a gain for doing that...

use the 7mgte t/b Externally same size as the 4age.. internally 5mm bigger in the bore. 60mm compared to the 55mm 4age.. Gains are there to be made but you need the supporting mods to gain them.. Turbo!!!

There is a reason why sr20 owners use the n/a t.b its because it needs it to make power.. No point having a good flow turbo/exhaust/afm and intake not being able to support it.. Its common sense really

Seen a 200hp NA 4A with standard throttle body.

Have no idea where this Na throttle bull shit for SR's came from...
I have never seen an SR with any smaller or larger than 60mm from the factory.
Na or turbo....

And i think we've already decided that upgrading throttle bodies on anything other than a CRAZY engine is a waist of time...

The air still can only flow down one runner at a time... and the internal diameter of an intake runner is MUCH MUCH smaller in area than a 55mm throttle body...

Spend your money on some thing else and actually see some gains...
