Installing Gas struts In Bonnet

Have just purchased two gas struts for hatch but messed up and got the wrong ones. "Always cheak the part number moron", so I was wondering if I could possibly fit them to the hood of my baby 86. Tryed to find anyone who has done this but does not seem to be a popular Mod. Has anyone done this if so can you please part with any helpfull hints or surjustions.

probsbly wouldnt be to hard to do, jsut weld or drill some mounts on or what eva, cant really se the point of doing it though. you already have the thing to keep the bonnet open

yeah i had some spares at home that didn't fit my hatch, so itried to do a bonnet one. gave up though!

would they hold the weight of the bonnet....? I guess it the weight difference of the hatch and bonnet wouldnt be all that much....... wouldnt think it would be to hard to do either... a lil thinking and custom mounting and your away...........

I tried doin this same way they usualy have them setup,didnt work, wouldnt close properly cause was hitting,plus kept falling down with one strut, so u need two, unless u got fiberglass bonnet
If u were to do this, really need some custom work
Cant place strut on the side, there no room
Not worth effort unless your doin show car or got nothing better to do

a hatch would weigh at least twice what a bonnet weighs, if you have ever tried to open a hatch with no struts, you would realise that keeping the hatch up is only half the trouble.

there is no point putting gas struts under the bonnet, thats what the stick is there for.
