i think my map sensor is dead!!! every time i plug it in to the loom with the car started it revs high then dies. then wont start agin when its plugged in.

already had to get mortgage out because of the price of petrol.

have you tried another map sensor? just flog one from the wreckers...

well took your advice and flogged one from the wreckers well 2 just incase.
it was from an ae92 i think. it was still a 1.6 and is a vacume sensor. and it has the same colour wires as the one i have i will post a pic.

there not all the same, but you might be lucky.. if your motor is an AE86/82 bigport 4AGE... try and grab a map sensor from a AE82 twinky..

well i plugged the sensor in today and still killing the engine.
when i do plug it in the engine revs real high and the timing goes up past 30 and then engine cuts out. tested the ingectors and they stop getting power.

silly question.. but have you tried checking your base timing isn't way off the clock.. plug your map sensor in.. and start the car with T1 and E1 briged..

Could there be a wiring problem?
When you plug in the map sensor it completes the circuit making the wiring react to.....earthing out?? or touching something it shouldnt.

nah im pretty sure the wiring is all good i have double checked it have had some advice and going to change some things and then recheck the dizzy. pull it out and all.
