264 degrees is listed on Bill Sherwood's site as being the limit when using the factory ECU.

a good ecu isnt quite that much.

the engine in my car now has hks 264/256 in/ex 8.1mm. the package came with a stock ecu thats been chipped. 272 wont really work

A friend of mine installed some 272 degree cams in his bigport with stock ECU. He said it idled and ran fine afterwards and gave some more power in the top end.

PM "craigy" on Toymods if you want more info about exactly what he did.

You're right, has been talked about a lot. Mine has Wade 268 degree cams and runs fine on stock ECU

if you have and AFM stock computer it will be a bit more tolerant of big cams than if it is MAP sensed. The standard MAP computer doesn't like the low vaccuum that bigger cams produce. But as others have stated, buy a Programmable computer before cams as using the stock ecu will only be a compromise.

it will just idle a bit on the rich side.. maybe need to increase idle speed a little higher.. say 1200rpm.. untill you do get the new ECU... new ecu has to be one of the most greatest things i have done to my car... i was anti ecu cos of the price.. but it's sooooooo worth it!

Thanks mattyshop i was thinking the same thing increase the idle to 1200rpm till i can afford a ecu.
The reson i ask this question is that im getting a 86kw Bigport and it needs new cams and i found some cheap ones in this size so i thought i would ask the question.
