interchangable seat rail ?

i have seen a few ae86s with aw11 seats in them.

im wondering if u need to modify the seats rails, or if they are a straight swap ?

anybody know ?

i want to swap the recaro from my ae86 into my aw11. thanks for the help.

there was a few blokes on here who put sw20 seats in their 86's i remember them saying something about just modifying the holes a little prob just need to drill them out a bit

wow this is probly the only thread that i can give something worth taking note of...

they are not straight bolt on, my ae86 came with sw20 leather seats, i dont think they changed the seat rails, but i do know they freaking cut out the actual mounts and re weld them to suit the rail that was on the seats, was only a few cm away from standard but to cut and reweld original mounts = epic fail...and the seats didnt sit straight or even..

driver seat sagged and leaned towards center console and the same with the passenger, leaned right into the center console...

not saying u cant use the seats, good comfy seats and they have the back and thigh adjustable support and they can be seat to be nice and tight like a semi bucket seat

but u cant use the sw20 rails, get good customs one thats plug and play

yes aw11 seats are very similar to levin/trueno gt-apex seats.

so sw20 rails dont suit well..... im hopeing ae86 and aw11 have same or similar rails then.

gotta put the ae86 recaro into the aw11.

if somebody does a good job with welding etc it shouldnt be bad at all tho right ?

its easy to make seat rails if u have the original one, buy a few metal, cut and bend, weld, bolt what seat u want, sweetass, or just buy it from ebay

Dave2221 Has AW11 seats in his car. Said something about putting a spacer on the inside rear whole to make it fit better.

so to do the reverse of that and put ae86 seats into an aw11 would be similar i imagine ?

My sprinter had AW11 seats in it when I got it. When I took them out I had a look at the rails and there didn't seem to be any mods done to them....

Although the seats appeared to sit ever so slightly skewed.
