im going to be making the good old 4agze a turbo 4agte in the next few months and im selecting turbos.

I have come across a t25g off a sr20 blacktop..

would this be a good buy?? the dudes asking $250.00.. should i steer clear????


i have read that its rated upto 154rwkw on 12psi and will take upto 17psi with a new aftermarket wastegate..

can anyone demystify this one?

I wouldn't pay that much for a T25G unless it's been rebuilt recently, because they're one of the most common turbo's around and it's not too hard to find a good condition one for around that price. Other than that, I think a T25G or maybe a T28 ball bearing turbo would be a good option for the 4AG(Z)E. Good combination of power and spool time imho.

If you are still intent on it, ask how much shaft play it has (you want absolutely none) and how many KM's it has on it. You know, little things like that. Also check what he's currently running on his SR, and if it's something not much different I'd be wary on why he's selling it.

If your going to the effort of turboing the gze, I would suggest forking out some cash for something that you know will work and last. A $250 turbo is a $250 turbo. Completely useless if it needs rebuilding.
