hey just wondering how much it would cost to get a rim reversed?

as i currently have some cool 15" rims (longchamps, brake boilers) but all have +11 offset

how much would a tyre place charge to reverse the rims so offset of -11 and cleanup the inside, which would now be the outside of the rim?

only after ballpark figure b4 i go visit some shops and fall over dead at the prices

I am also interested in this. How do they actually reverse the rims? Its most probably a very obvious answer but one i have to ask sorry http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

I suppose that three piece rims are necessary for the process?

Please excuse the elementary questions!

2 piece rims minimum
just involves unbolt the centre and bolting it on the other way

not all 2 piece rims are reversable, just letting you know.

I'd say it would cost a fair bit.
Involves a lot of work and welding.
I doubt it would be any less than $200 a rim.

Let me know how you go http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

err it does not require welding, 3 piece rims can be unbolted. They have to seal them up after they bolt them back up, this can be problematic. Make sure they do this right or they can leak. You might end up paying $50 a rim. Or you can do it yourself - buy some silastic and unbolt at will.

rang a place and they quoted $165 per rim if everything goes to plan

it involves changing the valve position, machining up othe half of rim as well

so i dont know if its worth spending the money just to have -11 offset

2 wheels = 330
4 wheels = 660
6 wheels = 990

When you say brake boilers, do you mean MKI's? All the mk1's I've seen have been welded.

I moved the center back on a pair of formula mesh recently. You can get valves that have a right angle bend in them from truck tyre places and poke back through. Save having to re-drill it.

Make sure you get them balanced.

yeh when u undo 3 piece rims, make sure you reseal them well. All bolts need to be done to the right torque as well. I learnt the hard way!

what are longchamp xr4's 2 or 3 peace, i think there 2......just askin cause i changed the nuts on one of mine didnt pull them apart. I didnt torque them just did them up but there on the car and no leaks or anything.

should be sweet?

The theory of flipping from a +11 to become a -11 doesnt quite work. You may find a much greater negative offset depending on the design of the centre piece.

I tried to flip my +13 SSR's and I reckon the offset was close to -30!

Yeh if you have no leaks u'll be sweet, the worst that will happen is u'l wake up to your car one day with a flat tyre. But if ud had no problems for a week or two you shouldnt have a problem

The SSR's on the front of my car have been reversed. Either that or they were made with flat dish and the valve on the inside of the mesh so you can't put air in your tyres unless you pull the wheels off http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

ok im hi-jacking your thread a little here, but its following on from what we started talking about with 3 piece rims.

The ones in these pics are about +20-30 offset.

And im thinking if i reverse them, i would have a stupidly high negative offset.
Im thinking that this could possibly put excessive strain on the wheels or suspension parts? Am i right in thinking this, or do you think it will be ok?
Hopefully someone whois got some experience with this, can work out offsets etc roughly from the pics.
It would mean wider track, and they would look better if i can do this so im hoping i can safely do it!
But i dont want to pull them apart to be dissapointed because they are hit and miss to seal properly!

By the way in the pic, there is a 2-3cm spacer on a sprinter and they sit well inside the guard (gives you an idea of offset) they are a 7-7.5 inch wide rim

xr4's are bolted and welded together that's why they won't leak.

yea i was thinking of doing this to some volks i have so i dont have to run spacers, do you guys think its worth it?http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/115927.jpg

your volks look like they'd turn out the same as mine, similar offset and inner lip.
Im just worried about the construction of the wheel and where the weight will be distributed on it, which is why im waiting for an answer on this!
