View Full Version : The good ol' shortened ke/ae bumper trick?

hey guys i was wondering if anyone has any pointers on how to mount the bumper once you shorten it? what do you do with the mounts etc.

i think you pm'ed me about this

remove plastic section from steel mounts

throw away steel mounts, you don't re use them

i used a jigsaw and cut about 10 - 15cm out of mine, just follow the bumper profile.

you have to be creative with the ends, what i did was got someone to hold them in place and trimmed the ends to suit the recesses in the front and rear guards.

then go crazy and ziptie them to your guards

ah awsome, now i think i should have specified lol i sorta need info on the rear bumper, becase the front is an ae71 and wouldnt look good shortened

ok so the steel bumper mounts sticking out of the rear of the car get taken off and you then ziptie the bumper back into place?

awsome, also does the steel reinforcement inside the bumper come out? so you only end up with the plastic bumper?

there are clips that hold the bumper to the steel support. just take the clips off and you'll seperate the two.
