i used to have a red RA40 with an 18RG in it.. i still have a complete 18RG head if your interested? as i said befor all the RA40's have T series diff's, it doesn't seem to matter if it's the face lift like yours (same as my old one) or the old shoval round headlights model. they both seem to come with, and without a rear swaybar..

well basically what im tryin to find out is the exact number for when i start buyin shit for it. so if its t series in general that means it just has a zenki centre and regarless of what model the dif actually is everything'll fit to it providing they're zenki parts? hey those 18rg heads dont fit onto r-c blocks do they?

they do.. bolt on.. but timing chains, and guides, and the oil pump in the RC is gay compared to the G, and the auxillery shaft has a different gear on it, as the dizzy comes out of the front timing cover.. which is also different..

my suggestion..

buy a redline manifold for 1 side darft 45mmwebber , or buy the manifold i have that adapts 2 40mm-45mm webber/solex carbs (i was running 18RG 40mm carbs on my 18RC for a while)
extractors,
pull the head off.. can do rediculous amounts of port work to them, and shave it to up the CR a bit.. 8.5 is shit for an ATMO motor.. see craig at extreme engineering
get slightly better valve springs
get something like a traditional 75/35 cam grind..
buy the 18RG electronic ignition dizzy/coil etc off me (saves you melting points) cos you'll be spinning the SOHC up to 8G...

when that dies.. then upgrade.. you will be suprised.. my old 18RC had 180 000 km's on it after it had already been rebuilt.. (repco exchange engine!) i did all this work to it.. then took it all off 40 000km's later and sold the car.. to my knowledge the car is still running, and driving everyday.. very torquey cos it has the cam/ compression and portwork in there, but stock carby...

is that head from an 18rg or from 18rgeu 18rgu or any of those dodgey versions of it? cuz the 18rg head was a genuine toyota item n had 9.7 compression while the others were yamaha knock ups with compression not much betta then my r-c.

not quite young grasshopper...

all the heads were designed by yamaha most of them have yamaha cast on them... the 9.7 18RG had the compression because it had higher compression pistons in it.. nothing to do with the head its'self.. the 18RG has the best cams in it.. where are the 18RGEU (efi model) has the best port design, and biggest valves.. i can't remember the number of each of them.. but the last 3 didgits stamped on the head tells you what model it's off.. eg 270 like we talk big port/small port 4ag heads.. you used to talk, 'ive got a 9.7 bottom end with a 270 head' etc etc.. i have info at home on which head is what..

and for gods sake there is nothing dodgey about yamaha! they have had a hand in nearly every single twin-cam toyota sports head (G head).. 2T-G, 3T-G, 18RG, 3SGE, 4AGE'sm, 1G... even late model stuff!

yeh looks like a standard 6.9 inch t series diff if u look at the build plate it will give u the code for the diameter (6.9") and the code for the ratio and wether it has 2 or 4 pinion gears and a lsd or not i think the axel code chart is available from the RTA or on the net somewhere its prbly a 3.9 2 pinion centre
