im in the process of gather parts for the converion, and got a set of new 12x1.5 wheel studs to suite.
however after i punched out the original nissan studs i found that the new toyota ones do not fit, the base of the wheel stud is too thick to slot into the hub.

has anyone succesfully converted to toyota wheel studs when doing this conversion, and if so can they i please know what studs were used?

thanks.

What is the difference in the studs? ie why are you changing them? Different thread or length?
You could probably find one that will fit from your local motor traders/repco etc. I think Nice Products do quite a few different types and their catalogue lists dimensions.

Nice products - niceproducts.com.au

Has a pdf catalogue on that page. You'll be able to find something with the right length, thread and knurl diameter there. I haven't got around to measuring things up yet so I can't give you a part #.

Toyota is 12 x 1.5 and nissan is 12x 1.25 ..... or it could be the other way around http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif. why do you need to change the studs anyway? if you don't need a special nut (ie mag nuts or shank type) just go to any tire place and they will be able to get some nuts with the right thread pattern for you on the spot!

1 - Having different nuts front and back is rude as.
2 - Nissan/Datsun nuts are much easier to strip/crossthread given their finer pitch. The 0.25mm makes a suprising difference

yes toyota is 1.5x12, nissan 1.25x12. my mags require an unusual wheel nut but in any case id rather have them all the same.

i got my local parts supplier to send me out all their different wheel studs with a 1.5 pitch thread, they sent out 5, all 'nice' branded. 4 were all too large at the press fit end, 1 was too small.

thanks for that link, ill check out the online catalogue tonight when i get home from WSID.

There are way more than 5 in the catalogue http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Just measured up.

S13
- 12.8 knurl
- 41 length
- 13.1 shoulder

Best fit in a 12 by 1.5 is S370
- 12.8 knurl
- 43.9 length
- 13.0 shoulder

And it seems the listing for 180SX in the nice catalog is wrong.

Yes, Nice part number. I haven't tried it yet because I went out last night and CBFed getting to Repco before work today.

I just had a search through the Nice catalogue the other day and it seems that S370 is listed for a bunch of cars (Escorts, Cortinas, some Mitsubishis, a few vans) so maybe a trip to the wreckers with a hammer may be in order.

I checked at Repco yesterday and no Melbourne stores had any and with a minimum order of 10 I gave it a miss. The plan was to go to a wrecker today and pull a stud from one of the cars that S370 is listed for and check it. But I didn't get the chance.

So let us know if you can get one Evo.

sorry i took so long but ive been flat out at work this week.

got the wheel stud in today and it FITS! awesome stuff. its a little longer but that should be fine for most people. i knew the knurl size would be correct as hen checked it in the catalogue, i just wasnt sure if the splines would be course or fine cause there are atleast two types, but this wheel stud is a fine spline much like the nissan ones if not identical.

cheers again to hen, always helpful mate.

OK, this is a bunch of cars for which the S370 is listed as a replacement. So you can go to the wreckers, pull a bunch of these studs and then drop them into your S13 hubs (I hope). I'll be trying this this weekend.

Car (Front or rear studs) Model Years
Cortina (F+R) TC-TF 72-81
Focus (R ) 03
Ka (F) 01-02
Laser (R ) KJ-KQ 94-03
Gemini (F+R) RB 85-87
Accent (F+R) 01-05

Plus a few other random ones unlikely to be at wreckers.
