Ive just dropped mine to 7200. No point reving it when your no making any power up there..

with stock cams you're not making anymore power after about 7,000rpm, limit it to 7500rpm and you *should* be right. as you say, unknown internals....

My stock AE92 ZE has been pounded into a 7000rpm fuelcut constantly for the last 3 years. No problems in that regard at all. Given the factory fuelcut is 7xxx on these then I'd happliy take it to 8 all day long.

Above 8 I'd get a little suspect on a non-prepped bottom end. I'm sure it'll handle it for a while, but lifespan will decrease.

Think mines set at 7400 but decreases in power after 6800 so 7000 is pretty reliable, thats still well in the red on a ADM tacho lo

Somone in this thread might be able to tell me on my microtec LTX10s there is a tacho wire think its blue and grey, what do I hook it up to in the dash to get the tacho working?

Look here (http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6355) for how to hook up your tacho wire

my limiter is set to 8K, only on ignition, the possibilities of flamage are endless! lol.. with the stock smallport cams i don't see anypoint.. but we will see where the power come on if i do a set of cams.. or turbo it..

7800rpm here on stock internals with microtech LTX8 .. but again, if you aren't making power above 6K, why go any higher? http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

I've got mine set for soft cut at 8300 and hard cut at 8500.
I've found that the extra revs means i can just hold 2nd the whole way around the local hillclimb. Was worth at least a second off the time.

Stock big port, 65000 original km, 304deg custom ground cams, 9500 redline http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif running LT10S. Engine has done 15000 km driven like this everyday to work and back. So far no drama's. Have allways run Mobile1 5w50 and changed every 5000km.

I never expected it to last as long as it has, Good old toyota over engeneering http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

I have been told by several people 8500 is a safe redline for a stock bottom end, as the rod bolts are the weak point. With a balanced stock bottom end and ARP rod bolts I was told 10000 is fine as long as you are willing to replace bearings regularly, lol.

4 age 16v are safe to about 8350 rpm after that they start to suffer oil pump cavitation ...ie no /less oil pessure and volume
you can remedy by using 20v black top pump ..these are apparently good for up to 10,000 rpm safely[/b]

That is an interesting point. I am in the process of building a replacement engine for my own vehicle and a 4A-GTE for a client. Both are getting complete rebuilds, I was going to simply buy new standard 4A-GE 16v pumps but if a better alternative is available, then by all means I will use it. Are these pumps available through toyota australia??
