hey

ok im looking for an altenator, a starter, dizzy, coil and ignitor.

what would be the best condition of the above do you guys recommend??
i have a rebuilt smallport, 11:1 comp, 4.5kg flywheel...
a couple of pros and cons that i have come up with:

alternator and starter and coil
new:
pro: its brand new
con: usually $300+
reco'd
pro: near new, can be cheap
con: never know how dodgy it could be
wreckers
pro:dirt cheap
con: could be busted

dizzy.
new
pro: its brand spankers
con: damn expensive (stoopid toyota parts monkey)
reco'd
pro: can be cheap
con: could be the completly the wrong one (dont laugh it already happened when i got my injectors)
wreckers
pro: dirt cheap
con: could be busted, could be the wrong one (as per injectors)

also what of these part could i scavenge of the 4ac?

Starter can come from any 4AC or 4AG 16 valve. 20 valve doesn't fit. Do a search about reduction starters if you are keen on these (would be good with the compression) , but garden 4AC is fine. Not sure about 4AGZE but again, search. Coil, ignitor dizzy and alternator just get from the wreckers. There is some variation in dizzy's depends on your ECU. If you are thinking Ebay, bear in mind the USDM ignitor and dizzy is different from a wiring perspective

ive atm i just got a oz spec gti comp...

would a big port dizzy be ok? i ve seen a few people them before...

Can't talk from experience but I don't think bigport dizzys work on smallport ECU's. Have seen a few contradictory posts though. Do a search on Toymods as I am sure it has been discussed there a few times
