Ok heres the question. I've got a momo whatever gearknob on the spoontah, installed by previous owner. I've never really liked the thing, it's a little ricey and its made so your meant to grip it round the side so when you change with your hand on top the pointy front is uncomfortable. Anyway just to complete my dislike of it something inside it has come loose and rattles whenever the car revs. It really is driving me nuts!!

Anyway i've tried twisting it and it doesn't seem to want to budge. My question is do i rip of the top silver bit and undo something, or do i have to just crank really hard on the black momo ring bit and twist it off?
And also brizey you didn't glue it on did you??

Any help would be muchly appreciated cos this rattling is so bad that i've been driving one handed all the time and holding onto my knob to make it stop http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

Cheers

Have you tried unscrewing bottom part of the gear nob where its says momo, I know it sounds dumb but some of these types of gearnobs have little screws under that part and thoughs are what holds the knob onto the shifter.

Yeah thats what i was thinking but i gave it a bit of a try and it didn't budge. I don't really want to really "undo" something that isn't mean to be undone. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif
Ok well it looks like i'm going to have destroy another pair of mums washing up gloves and attack it with the multigrips. FUN FUN FUN!!

yea i would say try unsrewing the black metal bit as that would be a sorta locking thing i think screw that off clockwise and then the gearknob should screw off anti clockwise

unscrew the bottom and there should be some grub screws that clamp it down

yep, dont listen to anyone else...momo gear knobs arent threaded, they give you a few diferent sizes of rubber cover over the thread, gear stick goes over that...3 pointed grub screws hold it in place http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Yeah had a quick go at it earlier can't get the black bit off with just hands so i'm gonna need to pop down to dads and use his multigrips.
